Question about Hoover Dishwashers

Open Question

Cutlery basket melting at the bottom

After completing the cycle the bottom of one section of the cutlery basket was distorted/melted. I thought it was a fork loaded the wrong way up and the prongs had gone through the bottom and touched the heating element. I tried again having checked that there was no cutlery protruding below the bottom of the cutlery basket and got the same results. I assume something is causing the temperature to rise locally - perhaps not enough water in the machine? The crockery seems to be being cleaned properley.
Any ideas what is causing this?

When our Neff dishwasher has completed a cycle most of the tablet is still in the open dispenser. Can you advise ?

Check and clean both spray arms.
make sure nothing is restricting the movements of the arms. Have you selected the correct programme? Quick wash may not always dissolve tablets, you may need to put the tablet straight into cutlery basket at start of quick wash programme

Where can I buy new loading baskets for my DWI 160 dishwasher?

These come as several parts. Not sure if all are available anymore as Candy parts. But you can get replacement Hoover parts to fit.

Main basket from Candy
Candy DWI 160W UK Dishwasher Basket

Cutlery basket from Candy
Candy DWI 160W UK Universal Cutlery Basket

The Upper and Lower baskets may not be available from Candy but Hoover replacements are
Candy Use HVR41022779 Lower Basket

Best to ask Candy support to provide pictures of the parts for comparison with your model or purchase or a refund policy if not suitable.

There is another site worth checking (but prices seem high)

My Asko D1606 doesn't seem to be filling/retaining enough water to pump actively through the swing arms. When I add a litre or so of water in manually and hold in the door catch, I can see it appear to...

check to see it the dishwasher has been pushed back ever so slightly. The water coming into dishwashers and exiting are on timers and if the hose is pinched this can affect it. Your dishwasher may appear to be in the same place but just pull it forward and try it again. What has you got to loose except big repair bill or a new machine.

Bottom spray arm hits plates on lower shelf

That will only happen if the bottom basket is severely distorted or if the design of plates you're using means that they project below the bottom of the basket.

The first problem is fixed by straightening the basket or replacing it; the second one can only be fixed by experimenting with different ways of loading the plates to avoid them projecting down through the basket or by using different plates.

The dishes don't get clean

Dishes not cleaned properly....

  1. Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F.
  2. Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
  3. Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.
  4. Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.
  5. Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.
  6. Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
  7. Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles.
