Question about Bissell 1699 ProHeat Clear View Upright Steam Vacuum
Soap or water does not spray
Several things can cause this.
First thing, I check to see if water is coming out the attachment hose. If it is coming out the hose and not the bottom, most likely you have a clogged heater. The heater is located inside the lower handle and just needs to be taken apart and cleaned out. Fairly simple repair, and it is common.
If it sprays for just a few seconds when you first turn it on and then stops, that's a classic sign of a bad pump, and it will need to be replaced.
If it isn't pumping at all out of both the bottom or the hose, there a few simple things to check. Make sure there is fluid in both tanks. It will not work with one of the tanks empty. Make sure the flat belt isn't broken( there is an access panel on the side of the unit to ger to the belt). The flat belt runs the pump. Both of the tanks have a round rubber gasket that wraps around the valve and they tend to come off and get stuck in the inlet valve of the machine. It just needs to be put back on the tank.
There are numerous reasons why this machine might not pump, but these are a few of the most common ones.
