The following is not a solution:
I tried holding down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds, but this did nothing, except give me the message: "Battery is too low System shutdown." Once the e250 turned off, I plugged it into the USB cable. Unfortunately, instead of going through the process of turning on and connecting to my computer, it merely gave the black and white SanDisk logo screen, dimmed, got white at the top and bottom, went completely white, and then started at the black and white SanDisk logo screen all over again. I began having this problem yesterday after lightly sitting down on it. I would be rather disappointed if that was the cause of the problem, in knowledge of my weight (only 150 lb) and of the total abuse it has had in its year of use in my posession (I bought it new).
One of the first things I did when trying to fix this problem was deassembling, cleaning, and reassembling the device. In the past, I had taken the player apart to clean it, and I always successfully reassembled it.
I'll keep this page bookmarked, just in case some one adds something. (I know, I know, it's been a year since anyone posted anything.)

- OK, never mind. People have been on this forum/post/whatever more recently than May 2007. Sorry.
