Can u use dell recovery disk for samsung laptop

No, and this is why not. Microsoft creates and OEM version of Windows (does not matter which version) and gives rights to manufactures (Dell, Samsung, Gateway, ASUS, Acer, etc) to tweak their version. Also when an install or recover disk comes or is made from a specific computer (make and model) Microsoft has a general base of install files for popular or common devices that you would install in or to your computer, but the manufacturer again tweaks this to the build of the model of computer or laptop. For example, if you have a Dell laptop it's software is optimised to the components inside that laptop using it on anything else but the intendead laptop would create a situation where most if not all the components might or would not work. So your memory RAM may not load and thus the laptop would load Windows or the video driver would not work and you would not get a video signal.
That said, your best option is to obtain a replacement version for the manufacturer. Most times you can download from their website if they still support that machine or other sites may have back copies of now obsolete models of computers or laptops, but not always, do a Google search with as much detail about the make and model numbers and works like, manual, download, help... in the search line.

It sounds like one of two things, either your hard drive is bad, or the formatting on your hard drive is so bad Windows cannot deal with it. To troubleshoot it try booting the computer up with a live run CD or a bootable USB drive and see if the hard drive is accessible . If you booted up with a live run CD or bootable USB drive that has an operating system on it you can reformat the drive (provided it opens) and that will do it. If it does not open, or is not accessible you will have to replace the hard drive

My windows xp home edition has crashed and i have no recovery cd

Find a friend with either a "retail" Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM disk,
or with an 'OEM' ("original equipment manufacturer") equivalent.

Use that disk, plus the 25-character product-key on the label on the side of your computer,
to reinstall Windows, or first to try to "repair" your installed copy of Windows.

Or, if you have a "brand-name" computer (Dell, HP, IBM, Lenovo, Acer, Gateway, eMachines)
telephone the manufacturer, and order a replacement "System Restore" set of CD-ROM disks.
Probably about $20, plus $20 for overnight-courier.

Need a restore disk for acer laptopex4420

Thank you for using
FixYa for your problem

Windows 7 and Vista has a feature called System Restore that automatically backs up registry and system files whenever you install new software or drivers. This feature is useful when you install evil software that makes your computer run really slow. But don’t worry, System Restore won’t remove Windows Vista.

Using System Restore in Windows

There are two places that you can use the system restore feature from. From within Windows, you can just type restore into the Start menu search box, and you’ll immediately see System Restore at the top of the start menu:
now just follow it all

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

Gateway Laptod Model No M360

First you will need to register at gateway, I took the serial number you provided and gateway has no record of it, once you register it, you should be able to purchase the recovery disks. I'm including the link: you need to register in order for this link to work, that serial number has to be in gateways system, once it is you can order recovery media. Hope this helps

Need restore disk

You should be able to contact the manufacturer to get assistance. Some laptops come with the restore information hidden on a part of the laptop. To make it work you will have to enter whatever keystrokes they direct you to use and the restore will automatically run. If you do need a specific cd, the manufacturer can also tell you what you need. Depending on the age of the laptop, you should be able to order it from them. If they no longer stock the restore cd's, you will have to get a copy of the version of Windows you want to install and install it yourself. If you are using XP or Vista, the cd should have most of the drivers you will need for the laptop. If not you should be able to track down the drivers on the Intenet.
