C3000 Hello Inky, This problem is not yet solved: The high pitched whine and the paper stopping just before the fuser (the hot) unit is a known issue on the C3000 and C4100. If you are still searching for the solution to this issue, let me know, as I now have a working fix for the problem. Do you have good tips for this? Thanks, Marko

Hi Marko, the issue has been sorted fully by a fairly simple update to the firmware. There is a complete solution available from the address below. I spent ages messing around trying to find the correct fix for the firmware. I came across the solution below and found it 100% effective for the machines I have used it on.

It's not a free fix, but it is damn cheap, and I can vouch for the fact that it works.

My Hp 1200 laser printer makes a high pitched squealing noise and I have to pull the plug out to stop it.

The fuser is the part of the printer that heats the toner to the paper. turn the printer around and open the back cover. You should see a long black bar with green clips on either side to release a paper jam. There may also be rollers in there. Make sure there is no debris in the fuser, and that those clips are in the functioning position (usually down). If the fuser is removable, which I don't think it is in this model, take it out and then reinstall it. Then give it a shot. Usually though high pitched squeal is a toner cartridge thing. If you are using reman cartridges try a new (actual hp) cartridge from office depot or staples.

Hi Colin.

I just have had the same problem with my Aculaser C4200.
I may have found a way to solve you problem.
Just print 10 blank (without anything), and after that i took all toner's, the fuser etc. and put it back again. Printed 10 more blank pages, and printed over 200 pages with lot of tekst and colour (think that 50 pages could do it).
After 2 days everything is still ok for me.

Part Number for RICOH Aficio MP C3000 Fuser Unit

Part number is: B237 4053 (North America)
B237 4054 (Europe)

I Expect this will be very expensive as it is not designed to be replaced as an entire assembly, but rather repaired as needed.

That problem is the registration clutch.
You have to order the registration assembly to get the clutch. It is located on assembly with the black and stainless steel roller, you have to pop out the imaging unit to see it.
But that WILL fix your problem. They changed the style of clutch also. It is more reliable now.

How Brave is Jan?

Doubt it be the fuser(100 000life), "just magenta dots".... fuser would be "all smudged" or "black marks" , "the print rubs off" , "paper is creasing or jamming"

Can prove it by stopping a print (open door) when paper is1/2 way threw machine, you need to stop it before it goes threw the hot bit, so you can tell if the hot bit (fuser) puts the marks on the paper.

Transfer roller one would expect to effect whole print Smudged/Faint,uneven density

It will be the imaging unit ( 30 000 pagelife Ouch$ ) or possible leaking toner (if aftermarket)

Remove imaging unit and inspect film you should find image of lines, dots are usually chips or sticky stuff on drum surface, carefull no oily human fingers on surface please.

When stopping machine mid print and perfecting your timing, pull out the imaging unit and look at replica of your print notice if marked and where.

Hope this helps

Does it only whine when it paper is passing through it? Does it whine before the paper is fed in and after it's ejected? If so, could possible be the fuser unit. If it only whines when paper is passing through, it may be the paper passing between a worn-out feed roller and separator pad, which are high-mortality items on this model. Can you supply any more details?
