Yes you can, just connect a ethernet cable from a spare ethernet port on the router and connect it to your other pc, it should detect the hardware and install install if ror you. Try huthinson3G for a free cell phone and a really chep package, i am a 3G customer and could possibly get you a discount

Can you hook up dial-up to a dsl modem

Can you hook up a dial up what to a dsl? A modem? No, you need a dsl modem for a dsl line. Typically, a dial up is POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) and connects to a POTS 56,000 K modem. DSL will run much faster but not as fast as cable.

I JUST BOUGHT THE D-LINK DIR-615 (N300) _ WIRELESS ROUTER, IT TELLS ME TO HOOK UP TO MY MODEM BUT I DO NOT HAVE A MODEM, I HAVE DSL BUT IT IS RUN FROM THE OUTSIDE BOX ALONG WITH MY TV AND PHONE, MY DSL...

The router needs to have a modem to run off from, Even DSL provides modems if you do not have a modem then your DSL ISP (Internet Service Provider) did not provide you with one. I would suggest to follow the ethernet cord and see where it plugs into. You will need a modem to use a router.

Conecting acer notebook

what do you mean by hook it up? Do you mean internet service?
All new laptops have Wi-Fi capabilities, but you must be in range of a free service. In order to get dedicated service, you will need to either purchase an aircard from a provider such as sprint, verizon,AT&T, or get hooked up through your local phone company(DSL), or cable service- they will provide you with the modem.

Cant get wired internet on my ps3

A cable modem & a router are two different things. You can pick up a "Cisco 'EtherFast' cable/DSL" (wired or wireless) router at Wal Mart for $35. But you need both a modem & router to get your PS3 up & running on the web. Once you get on, you'll need to set up a "PlayStation" account. Unlike the Xbox 360 Live network, PlayStation is free of charge. It's a very user-friendly interface, so you shouldn't have any problems there. Cisco will give you live customer service to walk you through hooking up your router. Please let me know you make out. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Good luck, bro.

Connecting windstream dsl modem to xbox

Did you get a router, the dsl modem it self wont do much good, you need a router so it can assign your xbox an IP address. You need to have a router hooked up to the DSL modem, and the xbox hooked up to the router.

Hook up

Hi Cheryl,

From your cable/dsl modem please take the cable that comes out of it that looks slightly larger than a phone cable and plug it into a port on your NetGear Wireless Router that is labeled either Internet or WAN. After that is done, unplug the power to both your cable/dsl modem and your wireless router. Plug the power back into the cable/dsl modem and wait about 30 seconds then do the same with the wireless router.

Next on your computer, there should be a wireless icon by your clock near the bottom right corner of the screen. If you double on it, you will see a list of connections, yours will say Netgear and should have a good signal strength. Double on it and give it about 10 seconds to connect. Voila, you should be on the Internet.

Please let me know if this solves your problem.

Thanks,
Adam

first you connect the wire from the wall into the wan port in the back of your dsl modem. next you connect the outsource wire from your dsl modem into the wan port on your router. next put another rj45 wire into the number one port in the back of your router and the other to your computer. put another wire into number 2 and then to your xbox. everything need to be unplugged while you are hooking it up. once done power cycle...meaning plug up the dsl and wait for the lights to stay lit. then the router. the start your computer. if you want to go wireless just get a usb wireless network adaptor and there you are

Wireless G Router

Gordon, what brand is the router and DSL/Cable Modem.
It will help for references later if needed.

When Started out hooking up a network with a router and DSL/Cable modem, I find that the first instruction it ask for is to see if there's a connection to the internet. That's the first step normally, then it goes into having the user actually hook the router to the modem. After that, it search's both modem and router for information and copy's or so them to each other. This where the cd software comes into play. After this step, it's finishes up any other install it needs like other third partys and cleanup of files it used before. This is the time were if anything can go wrong, most likely will happen. If not, your golden.

Then restart the system to take effect of the new changes that were made.

Once restart is finish, brings windows and connections software
up and running, so you can connection asap.

Again each and every device is different.

Let me know

DsL is a glorified phone connection its not smooth and is always in a state of flaux along with your neighbors there neighbors so on and so forth
technecoly i would run cable connection that does not flaux with neighbors always have a strong signal

DsL is slow as 58 bit data fax modem i found it a waist of money and time waiting for system to play catch up
your comps fine its just your service provider
