Try a microsoft update and select "custom" this should detect the audio hardware and download and install the audio drivers for you

Elite Group (G31T-M7) Audio Drivers?

Your board has Intel G31 and ICH7 chipsets, Socket 775 and, Via VT1708B(for sound). This is ECS's link for downloads, there is a ver 7.0 also, I picked ver 1.0 and it shows a Via high def driver:
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Downloads/Downloads_Driver_Detail.aspx?detailid=897&MenuID=0&LanID=9
You can also try Via here:
http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp
This should get you your driver. If you are having other problems with the sound let me know.
Dave
Note:The board does appear to have support from Windows 7

Free File Recovery is a small and easy to use application that will help you to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from
digital cameraclip_image001.gifmemory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted from your iPod, or by bugs, crashes and viruses! hope this helps

New video card installed lost audio

Hi,
I had the same problem, but it was easily fixed. The problem is not really uncommon -- the new video card tries to take over your PC sound as well as your graphics -- and they don't give you any heads up or options about it. Assuming you want to use your new card, the other advice in the previous post is not helpful -- removing the drivers through a System Restore will make your card useless.
One of the first questions you need to find out is if you are getting your sound on board through the Mother Board or through a sound card. One quick and simple way that might work is go into your Control Panel for sound, go to Audio, and under Sound Playback
try to restore your old sound setting.

If that doesn't work, you can look under your Device Manager (For XP, right click on My Computer, click on Properties, and click on Hardware, then go into the Device Manager). Look for the sound section and check for conflicts. Also right-click on your old default sound settings and try to re-install them or check for hardware changes. Then re-boot the system.
If that fails, then go into your PC Setup when the computer is first powered on. (usually by pressing the Esc key or one of the F keys, depending on your computer brand). Be careful with what you change since this can totally mess up your system if you are like a bull in a china shop. Where your sound section is, change the setting to "On" for onboard motherboard sound, instead of Off or Auto. That cured my problem instantly.

Configuring two soundcards for parallel functioning

Windows does not play nicely with 2 sound cards. Perhaps one of these days Microsoft will get out of the stone age and recognize other options, but for now, the general consensus is that it is not feasible.

About the only thing I have seen is to turn off one sound card in the hardware profile, but that is not what you are trying to do.

Dear mumud,

As u hav told that u can't afford the new one so it's ok no problem Please follow these steps:-

1) U have to uninstall all the unwanted software's or applications to do this u have to go to Start-> Control Panel-> Add Remove Hardware then select those applications that u think is not nessary for u then u see change or remove botton on u r right side of u r screen now select that option it will unistall the application same procedure u have to do with other applications.

2) Now u have to delet all the temporary internet files and old compressed files to remove this u have to go to Start-> Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> Disk cleanup. after selecting the disk cleanup option it will show a display with C drive seleted press ok u have clean up only the C drive then another dialog box will appear select all the options and click ok first it will check the size of data he will be removing then he will conform u to cleanup or not click ok it will delet all unnessary files which were stored in C drive don't worry it will not going to erase u r personal data.

3) The last step u have to do is go to Start-> Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> Disk Defragmenter. select C drive and click defragment. now take a rest for 1 hour or more it will take time after completing the process restart the system. it will work faster.
