SOURCE: mower will not drive

Usually, that's an indication the the seat switch is not working. It's like getting off the seat without locking down the parking brake or getting off the seat with the baldes engaged, same result...engine dies.

SOURCE: Lawn mower dies

I had a very similiar issue, try this, when the mower starts to die, unscrew the gas cap, if it starts running again, it is creating a vacuum in your fuel tank, you can get a new gas cap, or drill a small hole in it to allow a bit of air inside.

SOURCE: JD L120 riding mower keeps dying on me

Loosen fuel cap 1 turn to see if it will stay running.Theres a tank breather hole/vent in the cap and when it becomes plugged no air can get into fuel tank when fuel is used, can also be a plugged fuel filter.

Throttle adjustment on lawn tractor

look at the bottom of the bowl on the carb, on the newer mowers, companies have installed a thing called the "fuel shut of solenoid" and on the end of it..there's either a short rod that comes to a point..or it could be perfectly round and flat, unscrew the solenoid and try cutting the tip of that rod off a little bit. and screw the solenoid back in. that should solve your problem. those solenoids aren't really needed, they were just put on to help stop the engines from backfiring. and when they go bad, problems like yours happen. it happened to my lawn mower, one day it was running just fine, than the next day it wasnt wanting to start, and if it did..it'd sputter and die.

When I start my toro self propelled mower it runs a few seconds(2-5), sputters and dies. I checked oil, gas, & air filters. All are in good shape. What might be the next step... a fuel line? And...

Hi ldroth22..

Remove your spark plug and check to be sure you are getting fire at the spark plug, if you are then:
Check your fuel filter if you have one, normally they are located in the fuel tank.
Also make sure you are using fresh fuel...and oil mix if your using a two cycle mower or weedeater with the oil to the right mixture and not too much oil as it can cause hard starting.
If the mower/weedeater is over a year old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Keep in mind that the float for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instrucitons you get with the carburetor kit.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their orginal position before you started.

19 hp kawasaki mower motor that dies after operating 45 minutes

well its back to the fule flow,,,i thing the fule lines and carb are blocked up and needs a strip down and a good clean up of all the jets and flote bole this sounds like fule shortage,,,if the engine is only just turning and you try to put it in gear so the cutters start to turn it loads the engine up and it stops!
you say pulling the choke out get it going!!!!! then its short of fule ,,,right!

04 Cavalier/ Sputters then dies out.

First step here is to have the engine control module scanned for fault codes.

Weedeater lawn mower shuts off, but still has 3/4 tank of gas

On some mowers...if the gas cap vent is not working properly, it will run fine for about 15 or 20 minutes, start spitting and sputtering, if you loosen the cap, and let air back into the tank it starts running normally again.
