Euroart wine cooler (JG-168BL) fault E4

I have a Euroart dual zone wine cooler JG 168BL. The bottom section is fine however the top section which normally is set at 5oC is not cooling and is showing E4 on the display panel instead of the temperature. Do you know what this fault code is referring to?
Many thanks

    Hi,
Yes the fan at the top is working. The top section is meant to range from 5 to 12oC while the bottom section approx 12 to 18oC. I think (but not sure) that the top section cools then cools the bottom section. The whole fridge is no longer cool, although the bottom section stills reads 18oC but the top is stuck on E4. when you turn it on you can hear and see the fan working but the cooling unit does not switch on.
    Thanks

Thanks for that. We will pull it apart on the weekend and let you know how it goes.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, have you checked if the blower/fan drawing air from the bottom section upwards is turning? If not, that maybe be the culprit.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

I purchased a 52 bottle kitchen aid wine cooler. No matter where I set the thermostat, it is always 45 degrees and readouts are sideways "T's" instead of numbers.

The beverage center and wine cellars have a temperature display for each zone. 12 volts

AC is supplied to the display board from a transformer in the unit compartment. The displays are only temperature displays and have nothing to do with any cooling function. A thermistor is used to sense temperature for each zone. The thermistor for the bottom zone is located inside the lower portion of the separator. The thermistor for the top zone on the wine cellar, (mid zone on beverage

center), is located in the upper portion of the separator. The thermistor for the beverage center upper zone is located on the inside of the 2-piece evaporator cover. It is on the right-hand side.

The mid temperature for the bottom zones on either unit are 60? Fahrenheit plus or minus 5 degrees. The mid temperature for the mid zone on the beverage center and the top zone

on the wine cellar is 45? Fahrenheit plus or minus 5 degrees. The mid temperature for the

top zone on the beverage center is 38? Fahrenheit plus or minus 5 degrees. I think at tis time you should check each section with a pocket size digital thermometer to cofirm tha the mechanical thermostat is within calibration. Click Here=> 4344690 Temperature Control

I believe the problem may be in the PCB transformer shown at the bottom right corner of the wiring diagram. It is possible o change the transformer but I have not been able to find the board that powers the LED temperature readouts. If needed let me know and I will call Whirlpool mfor you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Haier Dual Zone Wine Chiller - One Fan wont run

I have the same problem. When I first discovered this, both fans had stopped working and the temp for both zones was over 80. So much for the wine that had been stored there. After leaving the unit unplugged for a few days, the fan for the lower section started working again but the upper fan is still overheating. Haier customer service says too bad, so sad (I discovered this problem in the 13th month of ownership). I'm sure it is not worthwhile to fix this so it is going out with the trash and I'll look for a different brand for the next wine cellar that I purchase. Any ideas?

E4 Code

Between phone calls to danby and my neighbor, we fixed this problem. My E4 was on the left (lower chamber). If you have one on the right it is the upper chamber. The E4 is a defrost sensor that can be ordered from Danby's distributor (call Danby for the one in your area). The part and shipping were around $30.

If your E4 is on the left...

- remove the top shelves
- open the cover inside the cooler above the digital read outs (the top unscrews)
- inside is were the repacement sensor plugs in
- replace the one with the long cord
- run the sensor down the back to the lower chamber
- replace all covers and parts

If the E4 is on the right...

- remove the top shelves
- look on the right hand wall for a black plastic grate, the sensor is under this grate
- replace the sensor (simple plug and play)
- replace the racks.

Please pass this on, it was a ***** to deal with Danby and I nearly trashed the cooler out of sheer frustration.

Danby Wine Cooler

If you are getting the E4 error code, try replacing the defrost sensor. The part might take forever to get to you, but we replaced the sensor on the wine cooler and it's working.

Did you read the owners manual? It will be kind of hard to tell you because there are so many different settings for different areas.
