Question about Kodak EASYSHARE Z1285 Digital Camera

Kodak Easyshare Z1285 shutter broken

2 month old camera, new batteries, SD card working...

We can take a picture almost like normal, except when you either view or download the pictures, the image is now totally black, and the date stamp will still show correctly.
Almost as if there is a shutter that is stuck in the closed position!?

thanks in advance

Are you able view the photos taken in the camera in the display, if you have the problem only with downloaded pictures then you need check if the picture has no thumbnail or is an unrecognized format.

Good luck...

If still doesn't work then its defective CCD.You may suspect that the camera's shutter is not opening, but this is not the case.
If u are under the warranty u can repair the defective CCD.

When i remove the sd card to upload photos to my computer my new pictures are not there but are when the sd card is in the camera?

There are two possibilities that I can think of. 1) The SD card is full. You will need to copy the pictures off the SD card and onto your computer, then format the card. You can probably do this in the camera, but MAKE SURE you have copied the pictures you want to your computer because the format will erase everything. 2) The SD card is write protected. Look closely at the SD card there is a little slide switch that "locks" the SD card so that your camera cannot put any pictures on it. This slide switch must be in the unlocked position (or NOT locked).
Hope this helps.

Memory card says full when i put new sd 2gb card in card won't work on my kodak easyshare cw330 camera

I was checking to see if your camera had a limit to the size of SD memory card and couldn't find a thing so what I suspect is that the SD card lock has been engaged here is a diagram to show you how to unlock it.
tri3mast_41.jpg
Also any new memory card needs to be formatted in the camera before the camera can "read" it.
After pictures have been loaded to the memory card and then downloaded to the computer the memory card needs to be formatted to clean the old pictures off and make the memory card ready to accept new pictures.

Hello, my Finepix S1600 shoots one Picture and the little light is flashing yellow/green. When I try to shoot the second picture it blocks and wouldn't respond to anything anymore. I have to take the...

Removing the batteries or shutting the camera off while it's loading is just like shutting the power off to your computer while it's loading a page. It sure doesn't like it and can scramble its processor into malfunction. Please start with fresh batteries, format the SD card making sure the slide lock is pushed forward in the unlock position (towards the gold contacts) Load any pictures from the internal memory to the SD card, if any download to the computer and reformat the SD card. Now we have started with a clean memory. The SD card should be formatted every time you download pictures to the computer to keep things clean and running smoothly.
To the problem with not taking the picture or taking a long time to take the picture. I'm thinking you have the camera set in a "creative zone" which relays on user input and what has happened is the setting are far beyond "normal hand held photography. This meaning the exposure time is in long seconds and the camera is actually taking a picture (shutter speed for this camera can be as long as 30 seconds) I would suggest until you get use to using this camera that you turn the dial on the top to the "P" (program) mode that way the camera will look after both the shutter and aperture for the scene or subject in front of it. Another thing that could be happening is the self timer has been set for 10 seconds further prolonging what seams like forever in an exposure. See picture.
tri3mast_14.jpg

If this fails the the camera can be rest except for time/date. I'm saying this as there may be a function that has been set in the "Set up Menu" that you are not familiar with and wish nly to continue taking pictures in a more normal fashion. See the include picture which is also on page 95 of your manual.

Place picture here.

Have a SDHC 8gb Kodak card that won't format in Z1285

It's suggested that you use any SD Memory Card formatting Software to format the SD memory card. You can download any such Software from the address given below:
https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/support/jp/sd/sdfv2003.exe

Download the software from the above link and install in your computer and then format the memory card using it. After formatting the memory card, insert it in your Camera and use it normally.

When I acquire pictures from SD card, it acquires

You shouldn't be leaving the old pictures on the card. That's a guaranteed way to get into trouble. After downloading your pictures, format the card in the camera.

If you want to transfer just the new pictures, you'll have to select those pictures for transfer. Since you declined to specify what software you're using, I can't tell you precisely how to do that.

Kodak EASYSHARE Z1285 tells me my memory card needs formatted (any card I insert) but then is unable to format them and goes back to saying it needs formatted (3 different cards)

Memory card support for Z1285: SD/MMC up to 2 Gigabyte and SDHC up to 8 Gigabyte.

There is no firmware available online for this model.

The last option could be that the lever on the SD card is making the SD card data protected. Please turn the lever to the correct side.

I hope it works out

My camra worked just fine, then when I tried to turn it on it wont turn on no matter what I do

Please try the following: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher). 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera 3. Turn on your camera without the memory card. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty)
