Acer Aspire T180 - Booting Problem

Basically the computer rebooted itself and when came back on it showed me the ACER logo with 2 options:
- Del to setup
- F12 to go to boot menu

When I press these two nothing happens. So I took out the hard drive it is fully functioning when i put it onto another motherboard. The problem seem to be booting.

- I tried to remove the bios battery and put it back on nothing happened.
- I have removed the jumper and switched them and then switched them back on as if trying to remove the bios battery nothing happned.
- I have stripped down the motherboard to only CD room, 1 RAM and turned it on no difference.

Please help... how do i reset the bois? how do i get it to forget its origional bios setting or delete it all together? or any other solution comes to your mind because i am all out of ideas.

Many thanks

You can attempt to remove the bios chip and reinstall it or replace it with another. They are available. Do a google  search.  It has been my experience that if one cannot get into the bios that the Mother board is shot and I then replace it, not gambling on replacing the bios chip.

My acer laptop get stuck after booting, no response from keyboard, power button and turning off i need to take the battery out. any help? Thanks

hi,
Try to reboot the computer then press F8 while going to boot on windows logo then choose the safe mode. Check if you can go in safe mode, after that check the CMOS setup of the computer by pressing del or F1 on the key board, I sure that the is something wrong on the operating system of your computer.

My computer wont work

There are many possible causes for this kind of problem. With Safe Mode not booting, though, the possible fixes become few. Your best bet is to put your Windows CD/DVD in the drive and reboot the system by turning it off and back on or hitting the reset button - hitting enter or CTL-ALT-DEL won't give you the kind of reboot you need.

As the system is rebooting, keep watch on the screen near the bottom - you *may* need to hit a key to get the computer to boot from the CD/DVD. Once it's started to boot from the CD/DVD, follow the prompts to re-install Windows.

If you get an option to format the drive, don't do it! Just choose to keep the file system unchanged.

Good Luck!

I disabled my video adapter by mistake now all i see is windows logo but after boot up its a black screen cant see to log in or anything...tried starting in safe mode but it wont start up

Boot into safe mode (press F8 while booting for options menu) then go into device manager and re-enable the display adapter or uninstall it and allow Windows to reinstall it when you reboot.

Acer Aspire T180-UB72 does not boot

I have the same model and had the same problem. Fortunately there is a simple fix - unplug all your USB devices (mouses, printers etc). It should now boot!

Assuming that fixed it, it was trying to boot from a USB drive for some unknown reason. I think it was due to the latest windows XP update. Wierd. Hit F12 next time you reboot and make sure it is booting from hard disk first.
