Mitsubishi rear projection tv is too dark to see picture

This is a very common problem within your projection TV set there is a small red, green, and blue picture tube. On top of the tube there is a lens that focuses the video on the screen. Between the lens and the top of the tube there is a hollow chamber filled with a clear liquid. This fluid is specifically designed to keep the tube from overheating. After about 4-5 years the fluid will start to become cloudy and will will get worse over time. Tvrepairkits.com is a good place to get a repair kit to fix this condition yourself.

you might have bad caps or the vertical output integrated circuit, try to locate the vertical ic and check the surrounding areas for bad capacitors.

3 inch blank space at top and bottom of 50 inch projection hitachi ultra vision

Good Day, richardyoung;

Lack of vertical reflection? Does this happen on all channels? Can you change channels and the picture size changes? Are you receiving a HD signal? Have you tried changing the format?

I hate to ask you all these questions but I need to understand your concern completely. If you answered some of questions above yes / no; your TV might be okay. But try them.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

CHECK C2C52 10 UFD @ 50 V OFF THE BASE OF Q2C51 ON THE SIGNAL PCB. 2. CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.

Six year old 53UDX10B - Faint Horizontal Lines in Picture

This is a pretty common fault here Mike. I cannot remember the capacitor number, but it is right off of the flyback transformer and supplies the screen voltage to the picture tube driver transistors. You will need to get a scematic and trace out and check the flyback secondary capacitors for leakage, I am sure you will have more then on or two capacitors that need to be replaced. One more thing with this TV set. Look right under where the picture tubes are on the printed circuit boards, for an indication of fluid leakage or an oily substance. If you see any evidence of this, turn off the TV set and unplug it and call out a tech to try and clean off these boards before any further damage happens. Good Luck

I have a 1985 Zenith Space Command Color TV. It has developed thin white lines at the top of the viewing screen. The rest of the screen is clear. Is it something small or am I looking at a new picture...

The picture tube is fine.
Those whites lines at the top of the screen are caused by a dry or leaky capacitor(s) nearby the vertical amplifier IC.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

Sony 65 inch screen tv

The lines you saw, i;m sure they are the ones called retrace lines but know the failure could be located on the red CRT board. Most likely the video amplifier is defective and not necessarily the CRT.
What is the model number of your TV?

Screen Flashing

In a Sony TV, the most common cause of the picture flashing on and off is a weak picture tube. When the set was new, it took about 5 to 10 seconds for the picture to appear once the set was turned on. This is normal. If you have been noticing that it has been taking longer and longer to first appear, this is the clear signal that one of the picture tubes is getting tired. There is a circuit called IK Blanking that monitors each picture tube and adjusts them as the tubes age, so you always see a good picture. When one of the tubes has weakened so much that it cannot produce enough brightness in the picture, the circuit shuts the picture off completely. I guess Sony does not want you to see a tired, dull picture. When the tube is right on the edge of being too weak to keep the picture on, the picture will flash on and off, and it will also take much longer beofre it first turns on. The good news is that the Sony picture tubes always respond beautifully to reactivation (CRT Recharge) but you will need a qualified tech familiar with Sony projection sets to handle that repair for you.
