Siemens SX 56 ATT Wireless phone - Need help to unlock it

I have this phone for the past 6 years but have not been able to use it since ATT went thru the mergers. I am novice and am looking for your guidance and advice. I did go thru the XDA website and thought the process to be extremely geeky and risky. Hence this request. I have an international (Europe and Asia) travel coming up towards the end of this week and was hoping to be able to use this phone. I do have the cradle for the phone but donot have the USB sync cable. I would really appreciate if soneone could help me to get this resolved at the earliest. I am providing you with the hardware details that I thought would be of help.
