Question about Acer Aspire5100 Notebook
I bought an acer aspire 5100 laptop with xp...upgraded to vista and have had problems since. I tired to restore my system and got to 95% and then it had an error and everytime I try to start I get the dreaded nfltr is missing error and no remedy to fix it. I have tried a variety of fixes but think the "hidden" partition for eRecovery maybe be gone becasue I converted the fat 32 to ntfs ....any help or suggestions I can try?
The best way to cure this problem is to install a new copy of windows xp. You have ntldr missing error, that means the problem is with the os loader. If you choose to reinstall os then please try to repartition and reformat your hdd.

Copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files from another computer to c:/ using the same operating system. Both of these files are located in the root directory of the primary hard disk drive. For example, C:\NTLDR and C:\NTDETECT.COM should be the locations of these files on many computers.
copy ntldr c:
copy ntdetect.com c:
After the above two files have been copied, remove the floppy diskette and reboot the computer.
