I have a John Deere rider gt262, battery replaced,still have batt light on. Runs battery dead. Any suggestions?

First make sure you have a good ground. Remove the negative cable where it grounds to the frame and use sandpaper to make sure it is clean. The most likely guess is a bad voltage regulator (if equipped with one) or the charging coil that is under the flywheel. Use a multimeter set on DC voltage to check the output to the battery when the engine is running. You should see a reading of around 13-13.5 volts. If less then this it is most likely one of those two items.

john-deere-right-hand-thread-steering-tie-rod-ball-joint-am133072-medium_thumbnail.jpg A lot of these tie rod ends are not crimped tight enough to hold the ball in the socket. Try a new one from J. D. if it does not hold up look for an aftermarket part from another source.

there is a small handle on the back of most riders allowing you to free wheel the machine. If you can push your machine freely now then push the handle in and it should drive
