Question about VisionTek Xtasy 9100 Graphic Card

1 Answer

3D acceleration I downloaded and have the licensed version of a game called the Art of Murder - FBI investigation... I have all the updated ATI drivers in Windows XP... Of course I am running a Vision Xtasy 9100 AGP card my mother baord has no onbooard graphics chip, and is a Nvidia, Nforce3 250, with a Sempron 2800+ AMD CPU... When you click the Run Icon for the game, a window appears for Game Settings, it has to do with the Video Card and Sound... In that window I get a message that my video card does not support 3d acceleration, and there are blank options for choosing a Video Card, and for setting the color options associated with the game itself.. The game has a DirectX folder within the (program) Game Folder.. I have tried to figure out ways to overide this dumb game settings window but with no success I have also all the proper DirectX compents installed, (all tho when I downloaded the game I had no choice but to install the newer packages for DirectX) and I have also ran a DirectX Diag... to check if the 3d is working and it does... LOL this has angered me beyond high blood pressure. I have ran other games with 3d Acceleration without any problems.. I do not undertsand why this one game is acting completely stupid... I have done internet searches for this problem with 3d acceleration but all I get is linux babble.... I cannot figure out what is going on.. I have set everything in Ati's Control Catalst for full 3d acceleration... Any and all suggestions would be great, I will try out anything outside what I have already done to get this game to work... Thank you!!!!!

    That may be the case with the game itself, I do not bother with meeting the requirements of the games I play or buy.. Usually what I have is decent enough, and until now I have not had any problems with games I buy or play..

    I guess I should ask is, has time caught up with the VisionTek Xtasy 9100 video card???
    The card is about 8 years old, it has stood the test of time.. But now with gaming companies pushing graphics to where they are now I wonder how much longer I can keep using the card... I know this video card was praised at the time it came out, and in many sites I have come across to this day, it is still respected as a break through video card and I guess there are many that would buy it, if I were to sell it...

    Everything is up to date as far as DirectX and the Drivers for the Video card.. My bother has a Nvadia Graphics card and the game will play on his system. The hardware requirements for this game are not specific, they just give out basic information on system requirements... It could very well be that the game maker did not give a specific list of Video Cards that are compatible with the game, and knowing my luck I got a video card that does not meet there list of video cards required... I pay attention and find out what I can about a games requirements so I know that I can play it...

    I also notice it seems the Nvadia Video cards are a constant for video game requirments, when it comes to video card compatibilty...
    I am somewhat computer savy, but I obviously do not "know itall" and it is always fun to get other opions and suggestions....
    Sorry for this being so long.... And thank you for any and all replies!!!

I have'nt try that game! The problems goes to game itself, as you said that your run the other game so smoothly??Maybe you should'nt meets the system requirement (exactly)of the game itself??Check it first.

I want a compatible video card for my pc

This sounds like your computer may be several years old and the hardware a little outdated. It will depend on the game since today's latest games require not only 3d-acceleration but super fast acceleration as given by "NVIDIA" or "ATI"'s latest graphic cards.

If you are running a relatively simple game, you need to see if your computer uses which type of graphic card connector.

In the old days it was PCI, then came AGP and later PCI Express.

What the above will tell you is which 3d graphic card type to buy. You can get a graphic card at newegg.com or lots of other places varying in speed and capacity.

Agp accelerator

If you have not already done so, download the Catalyst Control Center from ATI's website. This will include drivers and ATI's management interface, this should also give you 3D acceleration capability. If you are using a 32-bit Operating System like Vista, the driver is here" https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/drivers/9-3_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe *Note from ATI: must use the ATI Catalyst 9.3 or earlier driver. This device is now considered a legacy device from ATI, so only use up to v9.3! Hope this helps.

If you do not see your graphics driver listed on this ATI link;
http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894

You'll have no choice but to download from this other site;
http://www.driverfiles.net/Video-Adapters/ATI/3D-Rage-LT-Pro/download/page,sh,1485,254,5,.html

The card is just too old. There are no updated drivers around.
Either of these two cards listed on this link can replace your old AGP 4x card;
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=879

DF.NET (Above), will charge you a fee to download the drivers you are looking for & there is no promise they will function correctly.

ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350) 3D Accelerator

Radeon 9550 series.: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp
Download the Catalyst Software Suite Driver & CCC. You will find a ton of control within the Catalyst Control Center.
Remove any ATI software before installing the newer combo.
If you get a error during uninstall through the control panel run ATI's uninstaller at.:
