Question about HP Compaq Business Notebook NX9010
Can not turn on
I just finished diagnosing an nx9010 for a friend. I discovered that the smaller fan underneath the laptop was not spinning up with the other two fans. I opened up the entire unit and did a power cycle with the processor cooling fan connections reversed and discovered that both fans are operational. Thus I concluded that the fan drive control on the motherboard is not supplying power to the fan, and so the system never gets past its BIOS fan test; hence no screen display either.
I will have to order a new motherboard for my friend, but the rest of the equipment is still good. I hope this helps. :)
