Question about Whirlpool Ovens
Checked element w/ ohm meter and reads good continuity. Where is the fuse located? How do you access it? Can it be checked visually? This stove is in a rental unit and the tenant broke the oven knob off by dropping a pan on it.He then used a pair of vice grips to operate the oven switch. Could he have damaged the switch? Might that be the problem?
Check out this tip that I wrote about this problem...

IF you have the correct amount of 220 volts power at the terminal block.then the only thing left is the main control board has failed and needs to be replaced.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
This indicates a open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then test the door switch. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

This problem only means that you have a bad ERC that needs replacement. You may order the part from Sears, call them at 1-800-252-1698. Just get your model number ready and they'll help you get the new ERC. Once delivered, it goes with the instruction on how you will replace.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.
