Question about Pool & Spa Heaters
I have a Pentair MiniMax NT 250,000 btu pool heater that failsto ignite burners. the ignition element heats up and glows. the deviceattempts to light the burners three (3) times and then displays anerror...error code 04. the PLC on the inside had a red indicator lightthat blinks three(3) time which according to the key on the PLCindicates a fuel valve lock out. i have reset the heater by switchingit off and also by unplugging the unite for 10 minutes and no luck. anythoughts or suggestions?? please advise. thanks. rsm
1. There is air in the gas line. Power down the heater and allow it to try igniting until lockout. If it locks out, repeat the process. Most lines will clear within 4-5 attempts to ignite.
2. A plugged burner orifice. Run a small pipe cleaner in the brass fittings on the burner tray. They may have small webs in them restricting gas flow.
If the unit is a Standard (STD on the plate inside) it has a flame sensor that may also be bad. That sensor is on the end of the single wire that is cloase to the ignitor wire near the burners. Also check for a losse ground wire on the heater.

Could be inducer fan motor. On acall for heat inducer fan motor start the ignites the burner. The unit has to realize air flow. If inducer fan motor ok, check pilot assembly valve there is and adjustment screw on the valve body
