Question about Haier HTF24R21 24" TV

We had power surges last night, i dont have the manuel need help

I turned on my Haier HP2969 TV this morning and it came up with Service 0 with a whole lot of 0's and 1's underneath it. It also went through about 5 list of codes with numbers next to them. I could not get rid of this. Once i did the top of the screen has a green and red thin line and the edges of the screen are going inward. My dvd recorder works fine on this as I eventually got the buttons to work on the remote and was able to connect the TV AV2. I cannot seem to tune in the VCR and the sound was making a horrible humming noise. When i could finally get something to work the volume is extra high when the tv is on and lower when the dvd recorder is connected. I have lost the manual as we have moved. How can i get rid of the problem on the top of the screen and why won't the vcr tune in. I cannot get up the menu for the vcr at all. The power surges have completely screwed it up. Please help. I went to where I bought it from and they cannot help me. Is there a way to reset the whole tv? I tried looking on the website to see if i could get a manuel but couldn't find that i could.

It's possible that somewhere on the back of the set is a very small hole labeled reset that you can insert a toothpick into it to reset the TV. If not, you may end up having to have someone remove the back cover and locate an internal reset button. If that doesn't fix the issues with the screen, then it's probably seen better days. However it's also possible that resetting the TV will return it to normal. As far as the DVD recorder, you may check to see if it has its own volume level. If it does, then that's probably the issue with the volume. As far as the VCR goes, I'm guessing it's probably shot. As cheap as VCR's have gotten, I'm sure that you won't be too much at a loss, provided you're able to remove any cassette that may be in it. If so, you'll probably have to completely disassemble it to get your tape before throwing it away. I've had this happen before, and I can say that it's no fun. Hope this helps and have a wonderful evening!

Lcd tv light flashing but no picture or sound

If you removed power by turning off power itself to the set instead of turning it off by turning the set itself off---that is not a good thing to do.

When power is restored a surge can and likely hit the power supply in your set---time for a tech or shop to open it---I suspect they will find the standby or main power supply is damaged or now bad.

Tv won't turn on

Was the power button from the main outlet(wall) kept in the ON (position)throughout the knight! i.e. switched off by the remote only? In that case a power surge druing the night could have fried some part of the TV circuit. In such case there are many fuses inside the TV which need to be checked out If the main tubes are gone kaput then better to replace the entire set......................sodeep

No Power to my TV after power outage

A lot of times its simply a fuse that goes out. Either way someone is going to have to open it up and inspect the fuses first. It 's a fairly inexpensive service call.

Hopefully the fuse took the hit from the storm.

Could be as simple as a blown fuse, but if you know so little about TV's, go see a serviceman!

TV turns on at odd hours by itself

Hi, I had the "Ghost In The Machine". I tried out what I descibed in my original posting.
#1. I unplugged The Set.
#2. I pushed in and held in the power button in for about 5 minutes before bedtime. ( The PC trick I learned) I gave it 5 minutes because a tv set has much more power inside it.
#3. I again pushed in and held the power button in again for 3 minutes the next morning.
#4. I plugged the tv in again. The red standby light was lit. The set did not immeadiatly come on when I tried to power it up.
#5. 5 Minutes later I returned and hit the power button on the remote and it came on like nothing ever was wrong.
#6. It has been fine now for 3 days!!! Powers up when commanded and shuts down like normal. It has yet to come back on or act up as it was doing.
I will keep a watch on it and if it starts up acting again I will repost. I hope this information will be of use to anyone who experienced the same problem. It didn't cost a dime, just some patience. Thanks for a forum that people can exchange information and save trouble and money unless all options are exhausted. Bill
