Hi,

If your like me you probably have another computer around. We need to "Borrow" its monitor. If not see if a friend of yours has one you can use for a day.

Replace your monitor with the "Borrowed" one and fire it up. If you get the black out right away, try the previous tip with this monitor as well. If this Monitor works, then we have determined that YOUR Monitor has (In gaming terms) "Been fragged". If its an older Monitor its entirely possible that running L4D at max resolution might have been just enough to push it to failure.

If the "Borrowed" Monitor exhibits the same symptoms even after the test. Then the blame lies on your Video card.

Whichever one failed check to see if its under warranty (Not likely for the monitor unless it's less than a year old) But for the video card, if it's by a bigname manufacturer (ie... PNY,BFG, ASUS etc...) then try to scare up your documentation and receipt because alot of these companies offer a Lifetime warranty and you'll get your card replaced/repaired for free. Sometimes if its a discontinued model you even get a free "Upgrade"

If you don't have a warranty. Get a service quote. Find a place that'll give you a free estimate. If you can't find a quote for less than half the cost of purchasing a NEW replacement, then your better of getting a new one. because you'll benefit from "New" technology AND you'll get a warranty with it.

Sorry for the bad news
Hope this helps
Dave

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hello Kelly
You need to post this in the original post of yours NOT as a new post. If you do it the right way, Bill Boyd will get a notification that there is a new message from you. Fixya gets 7 million posts a year, so the chances of Bill seeing this new post as slim to impossible. Under Bill's post you will see the word COMMENT. Click that and a box will open up.

Click on this link to get to that post and Bill's reply to you.

My pencil torch wont light or ignite.

Hello Lorna Allen

Your posting history shows that you have made two posts and both are identical saying you posted in the wrong category. That leads me to believe that you have set up an account and posted something in the wrong category and then set up another account and made two new posts. This is not the right way to use Fixya.com. You make ONE account and use only that account. EVERY post you make is editable for both question content and for category.

What you should do now is edit THIS post of yours into a real QUESTION, and I will Delete the other post. To do this Click on your name on the upper right side, and then click MY ACCOUNT. This shows ALL of your posts. Click on the highlighted one and then under the question, click EDIT. Or you can do it right here after you have read this. Look up above at your question and click EDIT underneath it.

Another tip that so many make mistakes at as a new poster. To make a reply to anyone who is 'speaking' to you, always click COMMENT under the posters post,, and never open a NEW post to make a comment. If you do it the right way, the person you are replying to will get a notification that there is a follow-up and they will come back and help you.

Thanks for using Fixya. Any questions, just COMMENT below my post.

Thank you, Virginia Thompson

Would be better to post to the original post about heaters, but I don't see that you got a reply.

It is always better to post to the original post so that the people who helped will get a notification of the reply. Just post as a COMMENT.

Hello, asnowman here.
I had to reply to this post, as the other would not let me.

Your question:
Comment posted on Oct 26, 2009 Thank you for your help, do you know what board this is on? signal, main, or power? Your televsion is the 73411, and I think that your convergence IC's are on the center board, (called the power board, even though it doesn't have the flyback on it), if they are not they are on the signal board. You can't miss them they are attached to a very large aluminum heat sink and the IC's are very large as well. I hope that this answers your questions. If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.
