Magnavox Console Stereo turntable does not turn at correct speed

I have a vintage Magnavox Console stereo (Model 1ST660S) and the turntable does not turn a the proper speed. The speed control doesn't seem to do anything. It turns but at a very slow speed.

Can you replace the turntable in a vintage Zenith Console sterio with a newer turntable?

Generally speaking all you need to do is find the left and right channels leads from the old deck to the amp, cut them off or if thy plug in somewhere unplug them, then you can connected the playback leads of the new deck to the amp and it will then play back.

Sansui stereo remote

the above mentioned make and model # unit is a tuner, not a reciever, as a tuner, it's only function is to recieve radio signals, there is no internal amp, no selector switch for other components.

I have a vintage magnavx console stereo and the turntable speed is off....how can I fix this?

Depends on the drive method of the old turntable. Sometimes grease/dirt can build up. If it's an idler drive then the rubber wheel that rubs on the rim of the turntable can become worn.

Hi mesha
To answer your question;
Of course the value is in the eye of the beholder but i`d say go to Ebay and search for your model number or look into vintage stereo systems for something that would be equivalent.
It should give you a pretty good idea of it`s estimated value.
Hope this help Good luck

Vintage turntable turns slow for few minutes then speeds up,,,why

The tubes are only in the audio amp portion of the stereo, and have nothing to do with the motor that turns the turntable.

Most likely it's that the grease on the motor is old and gummy, but becomes less viscous when it warms up.

Hiya, check and be sure the turntable is plugged into correct inputs, "phono"

If thats OK, then probably is the stylus but could also be the cartridge itself. Check the wires on the back of cartridge make sure they are fixed properly. If all Ok, then start with a new stylus first.

Hope it helps

Turntable failure

The drive wheel has probably dried up and is just slipping. Also, any grease that was in there has probably turned more to glue. This unit will need some TLC and some time to get all of the old grease out. A re-lube as well as a new wheel (if still available) and you will be good to go!
