Craig it is not possible because of limitations.

For one the processor socket is a Socket 479,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_479

Uses Intel Pentium M processors,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_M_microprocessors

The one in your laptop is an Intel Pentium M 1.6.
Banias core, 130nm architecture.

SSpec number SL6F7, or SL8BH, or SL6FA.
(Look at the year they were made.
According to my sources, the Dell Latitude D600 was made in 2003)

The Front Side Bus is 400MegaHertz. (FSB = 400MHz)
The voltage range is .0956 to 1.484

I doubt very seriously the CPU parameters, can be changed in your BIOS Setup. Cannot change the multiplier, or voltage, or FSB.

Doubt there is a BIOS upgrade.

Trying to play a game that requires a processor with 2.6GHz, or more?
Won't be with this one.

Regards,
joecoolvette

[ Thought it would be better to explain, than just state you cannot upgrade the Processor ]

Pentium M 2.0 ghz if you update the bios. You would need Dell 600 Bios & that should be available on the Dell website under the support section. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

I have a mainboard of model D845GVAD2------------------------AAC18931-104. It has already intall the Intel celeron processor of 1.8GHz. Now I want to upgrade my processor. So what high frequency processor...

Hello,
The Intel® Desktop Board D845GVAD2 supports a single Pentium® 4 processor with a system bus frequency of 400 MHz or 533 MHz, or a single Celeron® processor with a system bus frequency of 400 MHz.

So you can install upto 3.06 GHz 533 MHz(cache memory) processor and also update the ram 2 GB 400 mhz.
Dont install Prescott processor.
Hope it will help you.

Upgrade RAM in a Latitude D600. one bay seems to fail

The memory bay is a part of the motherboard. Try each stick in each bay to make sure that the problem is the motherboard itself. Sometimes memory is incompatible with a particular laptop. Sometimes there is a maximum allowable memory. The maximum for your PC is 2 GB.
