Could be a corruption somewhere ...got to your computer and RIGHT click on the icon go to properties and go to device manager ....and check your cdrw drive ..under the drives tab...usually with the plus sign and see if the driver is ok ...if you don't see any question marks right off the bat that is a good sign ...it just means you will have to dig a bit deeper ...
in some burner programs you may have a temp folder where your cd burning info is stored and they can get full....check the path where your cd temp maybe folder is ...and see if it is full...you may have to make another folder which would create another path automatically....these are just suggestions...not solutions...but check your hardware under device manager that would be the first to check...

Ok so my compaq presario windows xp home edition service pack 3 cd burner was working fine till just a few minutes ago Windows Media Player said Connect a burner. I unistalled wmp and reinstalled still had...

make sure that the cd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the cd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd burner then plug them back in or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
control panel admistrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver, roll back driver,or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall
hope this helps
if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

hope this helps

Hello: my computer won't burn a cd. It says to connect a burner through my wmp.

Thank you for your question.

The first step you need to take is to ensure that you have a CD Burner attached to the Computer. Open "My Computer or Windows Explorer" and check under computer heading if the CD/DVD has RW behind the entry. This confirms that you have a Burner in place and the computer is seeing it as such.

If not you will need to have someone with the skill to check the initial BIOS (or "Google" a video) of the computer, where it checks what hardware it has attached and set it properly.

If indeed you have a burner in place it may need to have its drivers updated and you can connect to Gateways home site to obtain updated drivers for the burner. I have provided a link for you, on the homepage, select your Region/Support/Drivers and Downloads, then update your driver.

http://www.gateway.com/worldwide/

It should then be good to "go", if not, possibly you would need to have the Drive checked as it might be damaged. If it is under warranty, make arrangements with the dealer/seller you purchased it from.

Kind regards

Would you please take a moment to vote, I use the feedback to assist in answering further questions.

When connecting the dvd burner and the camcorder to a cannon fs11

I'm not 100% sure of the question your asking here but I believe that the message you're getting is because you need to have...

(A.) Power cable plugged into the DW-100 (I assume you're OK there).
(B). USB Cable connecting the DW-100 and your camcorder (OK there too)
(C.)You must ALSO have your power cable plugged into your camcorder.

Many people forget about 'C' but Canon works on the premise that offloading data can take time and drain the whole battery so you must have everything running on A/C in order to do your work.

Hope this helps.

Burner not rcognised

wmp is not a very good choice for burning disks, try nero alcohol 120%, goo media center, or roxio easy dvd creator, when you say it won't recognize the drive what exactly is the issue, what errors do you see, they are there for a reason, they provide information that can potentially solve the problem for you, also what operating system and the brand/model of the burner would be useful in trouble shooting the problem.
