The front of the dryer can be removed by gently prying the top up at front corners. Lift lid 1/2 way up and support. There will be two screws (hex head) on inside outer upper corners, remove them. Some dryers have two srews on the outside bottom corners of the front panel. the front will lift up and out. The drum will fall free from front felt guides. Looking from the front below the drum, you will see the belt tension pulley near the floor, this may need to be removed or just pulled back to free the belt, from the motor pulley. Remove and reinstall new belt (flat side towards drum). Align belt on center of drum. Reinstall tension pulley if removed. Open door and support drum as you install front panel. Be sure the front panel rest on lower supports and drum rest on felt pads. Reinsert screws in front lower and upper corners, lower lid, align top with guides and snap down. discard old belt. Your done.

You can buy replacement belts at Sears, most big-box home improvement places or an appliance parts store. Replacing it is not very difficult for most people who can handle a screwdriver and have some patience. The process is too long to describe here, and pictures are better. Here's a site which will guide you through it:

Don't let it scare you! It's not bad at all. Good luck on your repair!

The top must be lifted and the front must come off so you can slide the new belt on. When that is done in the back you will see a panel to be removed. Slide the belt back and install it around the pulley on the motor. When you are done put it back together and wala. I hope this helped you out.

You'll have to trouble shoot it... the belt either jumped off the motor pully or it may have broke. Either way you'll have to disconnect it and inspect it. Remember to always unplug the unit when servicing it. If the belt broke it is not hard to replace. The drums are held by gravity on rollers. Simply lift enough to get new belt pass the roller. If there are upper rollers in the way... simply remove them. Don't remove lower rollers. Lift the drum enough to install the belt and replace the upper rollers, relocate the new belt and close it up. Done.

I just had the belt replaced on my "Maytag" Gas Clothes Dryer Model #DG608. The repair man installed the new belt with the smooth side toward the drum as per one set of instructions derived from...

Herman usualy the groove side goes toward the drum which means it rides on the pulley from the motor disconnect and lean backwards to get a visual

The belt broke and i need to know how to put a new one on

The front of the dryer has to be removed to replace the belt. Best I can do is send a link to an exploded view. Unplug remove the top then the front slide the belt over the drum and make sure it will fit to the motor install the fromt tuen the drum by hand to make sure it turns freely. Slipthe belt over the motor pully turn again making sure it is smooth. replace the top and test the operation.

Need to install drive belt- lady kenmore dryer..loop designation

The belt probably broke first, which caused the idler pulley to come loose. This is normal. With no tension on the pulley it will commonly fall over. To re-install, follow these steps:

1. Loop the new drive belt around the dryer drum with the groove side facing the drum. (Try to line the belt up with the wear marks already on the drum from the previous belt).

2. With the tensioner in your left hand, insert the clip end of the idler pulley into the grooves on the dryer bottom casing with the idler wheel pointing to your left. (The grooves are directly in front of the drive motor.)

3. While holding the tensioner in place, insert the belt UNDER the wheel with your right hand and pull it up and over the drive motor pulley.

If this does not explain it well enough, you can also verify by going to repairclinic.com. Click on the Repair Help link and look for the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the Special Features section on the next page. If this is a Kenmore dryer, it will be manufactured by Whirlpool. Refer to diagram H. If you still have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
