Re: my xbox won't read my discs

Take it apart and do a simple clean of the entire system. remove all dust, dirt, and other junk. This fixes many problems. ~Brigham

I take it, you have tried a lens cleaner (disc) failing that it seem like dvd head is out of alignment (maybe) your last option is to replace the dvd drive good luck anon

Won't read games

Clean the lens with a can of compressed air or a cheap cd cleaner (CD with brushes on it). Common for the lens to get dirty and not read games.

Hope this helps.

CoD4 disc won't read.

how many times have you tried to play the disc?
the 360 is prone to many disc read errors, and most of the time if you just keep trying to play the disc it will work. xbox recognized the problem, and with the new dashboard update you can install games to your hard drive which minimizes the time the disk is spinning, which in turn minimizes disk read errors.

if it doesn't play, I would deffinetly try getting a new copy before sending in the console. getting a new copy is just a trip to the store, sending in the console will take a month.

Can not read anything in disk drive

Usually after having an Xbox 360 for a while, the "eye," or device that reads disks may ware down and break, or may just be dirty. This is the most common reason for the console to be unable to read any disks. I would contact 1-800-4MY-XBOX for support involving repairing the console, or another retailer to find a CD that could possible clean the eye.

Microsoft Xbox have some common problem like red lights, E74 and Disc Read Error. Microsoft is providing extended warranty for red lights problem, Means you will have to spend some money in order to get this problem repaired from Microsoft also you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get your Xbox back. There are many reasons disc read error can occur in your Xbox like your disc might not be clean, laser might also be dirty and many more common problem. Constantly read/writing Data. and the possibility of being full of dust. it,s had a great life.
