Okay, here is how it happened.
I uploaded some songs to my mp3 player and after that i changed the tag (artist, title) for some of them directly on the mp3 player. After i plugged it off the USB jack, the player showed a message: Updating the artist library information. Please wait. I've waited, and i've waited, and after 10 minutes i decided to turn it off. Bummer, it didn't work. So i detached the battery and after that i put it back again. After i tried to start it, the player shows Sandisk initializing and after that the Sansa logo. And there it just freezes. I can't turn it off, i can't do anything with it.
What should i do?
Thank you very much for your help.
Call suport at 1-866-ScanDisk. Choose MP3 and then option 3. Tell them your problem. They will have you try a few things and then send you to the retailer where you bought it for posible exchange. That is my story so far. I will be at Staples in the morning.

You check your songs from your computer first; Right click on one of songs, select Properties, select Summary tab (check Artist, Album Title, and Title). If they are there, you should update new firmware (search SANDISK FORUM from google). If they are empty, it's right for device display the filename.
Hey, I am not sure about ubunta but in Windows, you need a program that "tags" the MP3. Just google MP3 tag editor and you will find some programs that do this. Again, not sure about ubunta but give it a shot. What this program does is let you edit the MP3 to the fullest. Song title, artist, album, everything...Check it out....
You will have to take them off the player, rip your cd with media player, then BEFORE you sync them to the player, rightclick on the song, choose Advance Tag Editor and rename the song, artist, genre, then you can sync them over with title and name locked in the file.
If your using Windows XP right click on the MP3 and select properties. Then click on the Summary tab and select Advance. From here you will see a list of labels for your MP3 such as artist, title, year. album, genre and etc... When you edit it from here it should show on your Sansa.
I hope this helps :-D!
