SOURCE: HP 5610xi All-in-one wont send fax since switching from Vonage to Comcast

Have you checked with your service provider about sending fax from VOIP lines.
Because iam affraid HP does not support VOIP Services.
Even if you call HP Tech Support they will ask you to call your VOIP Service provider they should have a answer for that.
Because the HP Fax machine only supports Analog signals and the VOIP Services have Digital Siganls which the machine cannot recognise, So please contact your VOIP Services for the same to send send faxes because it is not the fax machine which cannot send fax it is your VOIP Service provider which has a problem.

Good Luck

Solution one: Check the fax connections Use the following steps to check the physical connections, and then use the HP Fax Test Service.

Step one: Check the physical connections

  1. Disconnect the telephone cord from the HP fax product, and then examine the connector on the end of the cord. Make sure that the cord has only two wires. Figure 1: Two-wire telephone cord

  1. Four-wire telephone cordGraphic: Four-wire telephone cordIf the cord has four wires, replace it with a two-wire phone cord.
If you must use a cord with four wires, use the converter that shipped with product. The converter allows a cord with four wires to work with a device that requires a cord with two wires.
  2. Connect one end of the telephone cord to the telephone jack, and then connect the other end of the cord to the port labeled 1-Line on the back of the HP fax product.

  2. Pick up the telephone receiver and listen for a dial tone. Make sure that you can dial out using the telephone keypad.
If there is a dial tone and you can dial out using the telephone, the HP fax product is connected correctly to a working telephone cord and telephone jack. My phone doesn't have dial tone. Each time I dial a number and try to call,it wont work. I call my phone but it wont ring. I need help on this. What happen to the phone? Or what should I do?

If you have another phone connect it to the wall outlet to see if you get a dial tone. This will indicate if your base unit is faulty.
Check the power adapter to the base unit, make sure it is getting mains power.
If the base unit has dual phone lines and if line 1 is only connected and the line 2 has beed selected then you cannot get a dial tone. In the chase press the line 1 to get a dial tone.
If your base unit has only one line then check the phone line at the wall socket make sure it is plugged in tight, also check the the connection at the base unit.
If this does not work then ring the phone company and get the to test your phone line, you may have a faulty line to your home.

I cannot send fax

Hi there!

For you to send a fax with the Brother Fax you can try these steps:

1. First make sure that you have a dial tone by lifting the handset or just by pressing the hook/speakerphone button. Once you have verified you have a dial tone press the hook button again to return to the main screen or hang up the handset. LCD should display the date & time

If you don't have a dial tone make sure that the telephone line cord is connected on the fax machine's Line jack. If you don't have a dial tone still, connect it to another working outlet. If you don't have a dial tone still, connect a working telephone on the wall jack to see if you'll get a dial tone. If you get a dial tone on the regular phone then problem is either with the line cord or the fax machine.

2. Once you have the date & time on the LCD screen, Load the document that you want to send on the automatic document feeder which is directly above the LCD screen.

3. The LCD screen should change from the date/time to "Enter Fax No. & Press Start" Once you got this screen dial the fax number and then press Start.

Hope this helps. Rate if it works.

Thanks!

My phone says parallel set on how i fix it

I assume you cannot get dial tone on your Vtech handsets or base unit. The phone is telling you that another phone or device has seized the line, therefore it cannot give you dialtone. You could have another phone or device(fax, modem, etc.) off hook or you could have trouble on the line caused by bad wiring, faulty line cord, or bad outlets. To find the trouble, you need to remove all devices from all outlets and try to isolate the bad wiring, line cord or outlet by connecting a standard good phone to one outlet at a time using a known good line cord. If you are unable to isolate the trouble using this method, try going to the outside interface box and testing the line there. Inside the outside interface box there is normally a test jack with a short line cord plugged into it, unplug the test jack and plug your standard phone into the test jack. If you don't get good dialtone then the trouble is with the service provider and you need to report it to your service provider. If you do get good dial tone then the trouble is in the building wiring, outlets or phone devices. Typically there is more than one pair of feed wires from the interface box to the building outlets. Remove all but one pair, then go inside and check all outlets for dialtone(plug standard phone into each outlet one at a time) to find which are connected to the pair of wires that are still connected at the interface box. If you find trouble on this feed wire( can't get dialtone at any of the outlets), remove it at the interface box and connect a different pair of feed wires, go inside and test all outlets again. If a feed wire tests good(you get dialtone on at least one outlet) then do not remove that feed wire at the interface box and just add the next one at the connection terminals in the interface box then retest your outlets again. Work your way through all of the feed wires and outlets in this manner to isolate where the trouble is. A bad wire, line cord, outlet or phone can produce a short or partial short across the telephone wire pair that will appear to your Vtech phone as if a parallel set is in use. It can sometimes take quite an effort to locate a bad wire or outlet. Good luck.

The phone lights up when put to charge also the red light on the base,, but when the phone line is connected it wont work ..What do u think is the problem?

The battery in the handset could be bad . First I would test that the base unit is recieving dial tone by pressing speaker button on base unit. If there is dial tone then problem is in handset or in base unit communication to handset. Try resetting power to base unit. Check manual for any re-initialization procedure. If the base unit is not receiving dial tone then I would test that the phone line is delivering dial tone to the base unit by connecting a known good phone to the line cord. If the dial tone is not present , problem could be in line cord from outlet, outlet, building wiring, or service provider.

No dial tone on handset. can't send or recieve fax.

? Other equipment, which uses the same phone line as the HP All-in-One,
might be causing the test to fail. To find out if other equipment is causing a
problem, disconnect everything from the phone line, and then run the test
again. If the Dial Tone Detection Test passes without the other equipment,
then one or more pieces of the equipment is causing problems; try adding
them back one at a time and rerunning the test each time, until you identify
which piece of equipment is causing the problem.
? Try connecting a working phone and phone cord to the telephone wall jack
that you are using for the HP All-in-One and check for a dial tone. If you do
not hear a dial tone, contact your telephone company and have them check
the line.
? Make sure you have correctly connected the HP All-in-One to the telephone
wall jack. Using the phone cord supplied in the box with the HP All-in-One,
connect one end to your telephone wall jack, then connect the other end to
the port labeled 1-LINE on the back of the HP All-in-One.

If the supplied phone cord is not long enough, you can extend it. For
information, see The phone cord that came with my HP All-in-One is not long
enough.
Check the connection between the telephone wall jack and the HP All-in-One
to make sure the phone cord is secure.
Make sure you use the phone cord that came with the HP All-in-One. If you
do not use the supplied phone cord to connect from the telephone wall jack
to the HP All-in-One, you might not be able to send or receive faxes. After
you plug in the phone cord that came with the HP All-in-One, run the fax test
again.
If you are using a phone splitter, this can cause faxing problems. (A splitter is
a two-cord connector that plugs into a telephone wall jack.) Try removing the
splitter and connecting the HP All-in-One directly to the telephone wall jack.

If you are using a phone splitter, this can cause faxing problems. (A splitter is
a two-cord connector that plugs into a telephone wall jack.) Try removing the
splitter and connecting the HP All-in-One directly to the telephone wall jack.
If your telephone system is not using a standard dial tone, such as some
PBX systems, this might cause the test to fail. This will not cause a problem
sending or receiving faxes. Try sending or receiving a test fax.
Check to make sure the country/region setting is set appropriately for your
country/region. If the country/region setting is not set or is set incorrectly, the
test might fail and you might have problems sending and receiving faxes.
Make sure you connect the HP All-in-One to an analog phone line or you will
not be able to send or receive faxes. To check if your phone line is digital,
connect a regular analog phone to the line and listen for a dial tone. If you do
not hear a normal sounding dial tone, it might be a phone line set up for
digital phones. Connect the HP All-in-One to an analog phone line and try
sending or receiving a fax.
Make sure you use the phone cord that came with the HP All-in-One. If you
do not use the supplied phone cord to connect from the telephone wall jack
to the HP All-in-One, you might not be able to send or receive faxes. After
you plug in the phone cord that came with the HP All-in-One, run the fax test
again.
After you resolve any problems found, run the fax test again to make sure it
passes and the HP All-in-One is ready for faxing. If the Dial Tone Detection test
continues to fail, contact your telephone company and have them check the
phone line.

Greetings my hp office jet its not faxing nor receiving faxes. it says no dialing tone

At a guess, I would say your phine line is either dead, or you have the line connected in to the incorrect socket. The phone line needs to be plugged into the socket that has an 'L' next to it. Check this first. If this is plugged in, check the line to the wall socket to make sure it is plugged in. If all this is good, press the hook button on the front of the unit, if it has one. You should hear a dial tone. If there is no hook button, get a phone and plug it in, if there is no dial tone, get a telephone tech in to check your line. If there is dial tone and you still can't fax. the unit has a faulty modem and will need to be replaced.
Being it a HP ink jet, should this be the case. throw it out and buy a new printer as the printer cannot be fixed because HP do not supply spare parts for their inkjet printers.

Problem with fax and phone

Make sure phone line goes to correct socket into fax ie into line not phone or ext. sockets.

Off hook means receiver is lifted from cradle, should vanish when you put phone down.

Connect normal phone to same place you are trying to plug fax into I bet it is engaged too, if so it because you have a phone line problem, call carrier.
