Cleaning if one thing take a hair dryer on low heat and fan and blow it along the keypad for about 3 min then tip the keyboard so it's facing down on table, and let it 'drip dry' for a day or so

that might help

if not, then the keyboard OR motherboard(bigger issue) is kaput

let me know how this works for you

well this is a common thing but most likely the motherboard was shorted out and causing glitching. I would take it to a tech to see if there is anything recoverable in there

SOURCE: I spilled coffee on my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop,

You might be able to find a cheap replacement palm rest (which includes the touch pad) on E-Bay or similar site. Just search your model number.

As far as replacing it yourself, I recommend having someone that works on computers regularly doing it, unless you are completely comfortable working inside the laptop. If you are (and you take all necessary precautions), here is the Service Manual from Dell which includes disassembly instructions for the palm rest.

Hi there, I am using Lenovo T430 and from last 3 days my number key nine is not working except that all keys are working?

the pad is bad
get it repaired in shop.
DIY is not easy, unless skilled.
if skilled, buy a new key board,
install it, end story.
1 key fails and is bad, or got coffee in there, or? dirt
you get a Can-O-AIR and blow it out. (blow and pray?)

How do I strip key board on my laptop to clean spilt coffee

http://www.laptop-repair.info/laptop_keyboard_repair.html
the steps to remove the keyboard is to remove the hinges cover first ..than the screws holding the keyboard in place (under the hinges cover) ..than slide it an inch forward (toward the screen ) ..and after that lift it up ...remove the ribbon from the plug ...and this is all ..replace it if you have the possibility ..or ..remove all buttons ...and clean it up ...and dry it well before replace it and see if it work s..If the damage is permanent you need a new one and the procedure is just the reverse..

The keys do not work. My 2 year old spilled coffee on my laptop. Some keys worked but most on the left side keys didn't. I tried to clean the keys with a cotton swab and alcohol. Now none of the...

Best solution now is to find a replacement keyboard. They are very easy to replace. Also, could use an external keyboard. Not ideal but it works.

As for cleaning, if the coffee had sugar and cream there is not much you can do.

There is one option I hesitate to suggest. Take the keyboard off, run it under warm water and let it dry for a few days before putting it back. May or may not work.

I spilled a small amount of coffee onto the keyboard while the computer was in use. I immediately turned it upside down and dried it off. I cannot get it to power " on"

Don't power it on. If that is doesn't seem kind of all water proof kind. Take out the battery and the AC power supply. Turn the laptop upside down without closing the screen monitor and let the coffee be out. Dry it/or take it on a reputable shop( I may suggest).

Have it clean. Hope it doesn't fry something inside.
