Last week my hard drive was fallen down on the floor, i thought it had to be a problem, yes it does. There are 3 partitions in it, but i can just open one of them. Does any body know how to solve this problem? ( My hard drive is Western Digital 160 gb) Thank you
Accidently my External Harddisk WD(western digital) fell to the floor. After that I connected this external hardisk to my computer to see if i can access the file stored on the external harddisk but I cannot.
When i connect the usb cable of the external harddisk to my laptop the green lap is glowing..also when i power up the harddisk i can feel it working but later on when i connect it to my laptop nothing happens and i dont see the external hard disk in the drive list of my computer.
Could you please let me know if the external harddisk can be fixed or is it that the damage occured is permanent.
Will i be able to recover the data files from the external hardisk by some means
You have to be more specific in order to receive help.

Was it in a desktop or laptop & how did it fall on the floor? Did it jump out of the computer or did you drop the computer? What do you consider to be a hard drive?

plugged in a 15volt power cord into a 250 GB Western Digital External HD - My book. Now, light lights, but disk does not spin. I figured the power supply board got smoked. I have another WD book that I want to swap the drive into. I can't figure out how to open the case.
