Question about LG RUMOR Cellular Phone
My son has the LG Rumor thru Sprint. He came home today and the screen is all messed up. It is all warped and keeps blinking. I called Sprint and they told me to reprogram the phone which did not work. Now they're telling me I have to take it to a Spring repair dealer. Is there some way I can fix this myself. I tried taking out the battery and replacing it but the phone still is all messed up. If it is in text slide position however, it is normal.
I was texting...and while waiting on a text msgs to come back i noticed that my screen went all white....is there a way i can fix thi9s with the help of sprint becuz there really begin some asses about this!
Love the name. We stopped selling for them not to long after the merge because they have made it such a hassel to work with our customers. However you won't find much resolve for that problem.
You might have to explain what you mean by warped. I can tell you common causes of this problem. The causes of nearly all (I say nearly because I like to leave a cushioning margin) software crashes is when the software doesn't know what to do. Imagine if you will, I have blocks, and I need these blocks to go into one of two places. I get you to do it for me, so I hand you Block A and tell you to take it to point A, Block B to point B, simple task right? What if I give you a block and I tell you C and there is no Point C or you forgot somewhere on the way and remembered it is C?
Now, some people have it in their head that these machines are infallible but that isn't the case as they operate on electricty and are exposed to the enviroment. Dropping, extreme temperature, shock, inactive power flow, and pretty much anything that can alter that electrical flow will of course alter the stored data. This is why it is something of common knowledge to remove the battery and replace it to clear the cache.
So, since the reprogramming didn't work, it isn't a SIM based phone, and removing the battery doesn't work, it is likely that it is a problem with the board or the EPROM. To fix this, either the phone has to be reflashed or the main operating board needs to be replaced. I'm sorry if you may have found the information a bit overwhelming but I feel it is helpful to understand how it may have happened and what to look out for rather then just saying, "Oh, it are broke."
Now, for those of you who have a similiar problem who hold SIM cards (If you should find this through a google search or just trying to find an answer to this problem with another phone) GSM Phones (or phones which read from the SIMs about the account) can be dirty or damaged which can cause similiar effects as this. You'll know this to be the case when this happens when you either try to place a phone call, send a text message, or any reason that the phone tries to connect to the towers.
I hope this information has at least been helpful. And welcome to FixYa.com

I am dealing with this EXACT problem. My screen is warped and you cant see much of anything on the screen especially when it becomes completely white. I have gone to my local Sprint store and it is actually a manufactures defect. The way that the cabeling from the front of the phone to the sliding keyboard portion of the phone is faulty and comes apart very easily. I am fighting with LG right now because they are flipping retards!!!!! They actually tried to tell me that they havent heard of this problem before, it is all over the net if you look and the gals at the Sprint store said that they (LG) know full well about it. They told me that I would have to wait to get a box with the return tracking number sent to me, pay to ship it to them, go atleast 10-14 days without a phone, then pay a minimum of $35 for their techs to see if they can fix it. I called ******** on this one because it is something like I said that they know about and if they dont take care of me I will make sure that EVERYONE knows that LG distributes products that they know are defective and then do nothing to take care of the hundereds upon hundereds of consumers who are asked to pay between $250 and $300 for their junk.
Call LG and cause a stink about it dude. I am calling during normal east coast 9-5 hours so that maybe I can talk to someone who speaks english and immediately asking for a supervisor.
Oh yeah and btw if you want to know what caused the issue.....it says right there that you cant store them outside of certain temp ranges....apparently that only counts for us not the LG warehouse because that is where it happened. As for dealing with Sprint....stay away from calling go into a store or kiosk they are much MUCH more helpful there.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
