How to do i put a pasword on wifi

You have to log in to your router meaning you need the username and password usually
admin
password
to log in pull up browser type 192.168.1.1 which is usually routers ip addresses by default
log in trying the option I gave if you didn't set it up in the first place
and create a password for log in. I would need more information about your router to help more

How to configure my router with laptop?

  • 1.Launch your Web browser and then type 192.168.1.1 in the address field. Click "Enter."

  • 2.Click "Basic Settings." Input the configuration information given to you from your ISP in this screen. The settings not given by your ISP can likely be left at their default value. Click "Apply" before navigating away from this screen.

  • 3.Click "Wireless Settings" in the menu on the left side of the screen. Enter or select the appropriate settings in the Wireless Settings dialog. Select the appropriate Security Options, then generate the security key. Click "Apply" before navigating away from the Wireless Settings dialog.

  • 4.Reboot the router for the changes to take effect.

I purchased a WGR614 Wireless Router and it won't go past step 3 on the installation because it says that my login information is incorrect after identifying it as a static IP address.

Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.
Click Here for step by step by instructions

    PS3 and Netgear WGR614 V7 Router

Basically the PS3 wireless settings needs to be configures with the Netgear wireless router settings.
To test if the modem is connects to the Internet, connect a computer into the modem, if it works then the modem is configured correctly. If it doesn't work, then contact your ISP and get them to test your modem connection.

Reset and Restore the NETGEAR device to Factory Default Settings Problem: var js_3;function initPsDisplay(){js_3 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_3","type":"FormField","w_id":3},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"description","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_3.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay); Symptoms:
    • Forgotten/lost password to log into the NETGEAR device
    • Cannot access the NETGEAR device web interface

    Workaround: var js_4;function initPsDisplay(){js_4 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_4","type":"FormField","w_id":4},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"solution","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_4.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay); Resolution:
If you have changed the default password and have forgotten the password, you may need to reset the NETGEAR device to factory default settings.

When a NETGEAR device resets, it goes back to the state when it was new — all information that was entered by hand is lost! Examples are critical things you need to get online, such as ISP username, ISP password, IP addresses, wireless security keys, and ports and services that were opened. It all needs to be re-entered.
So, have your ISP information before resetting the router.
Naturally, if you moved to a new city, or if you bought a used router, the old information in the router may not be of use to you. Contact your ISP if you can't connect any computer directly to the Internet.

Reset for most routers with a reset button on the rear panel
Write down configuration information such as IP addresses, security keys, opened ports and services, etc., that you modified. (The default username is admin and the password is either password or 1234. Try these before resetting the router.)
    1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
    2. Release the button.
    3. Wait for the router to reboot.
    4. Log in with the default password. If the router configuration was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.
    5. Unplug the router's power.
    6. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
    7. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
    8. Wait for the router to reboot.
    9. Log in with the default password.

    Hope this helps.......

    God Bless.......

A friend gave me his router to instal to my

You should do a factory reset using the reset button on the back using a paperclip.

Then you should insert the cd that your friend should also have given you (he didnt Hmm) if not you open an internet explorer page while hooked up (by wire) to the router and type into the address bar 192.168.1.1 on most netgear

    The username is admin
    and the password is 1234

From there you can use the setting your ISP gives you and also set wireless up.

The NETGEAR CD is for the router only. If you are connecting the XBOX to the router, you must configure the router so that it can give a connection to your XBOX. Call NETGEAR for that. You can try this also http://technicalsupport.blog.friendster.com

How to install with out the cd?

Are you using XP? You shouldn't need the CD.

    http://www.netgear.com/Home/Products/Adapters/GWirelessAdapters/WG111.aspx

Gives you information about the USB adapter.

    http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/GWirelessRouters/WGR614.aspx

That gives you information about your wireless router.

Do you need a manual to set this up? It looks like there are different version of this wireless router. Which one do you have? This can be identified on the package or the unit's bottom label.

Once we know which version you have we can continue.
