Question about Denon AVR-1804 Receiver

Sound but no picture - intermittant

Occasionally, there will be no picture signal and screen just goes blank. It's not the monitor, as other messages are displayed. Does not seem to be heat related as it sometimes happens when the system is first turned on. There is no set length of time it's off...sometimes a couple of minutes. Othertimes over an hour. Then it just comes on as if nothing happened. Has become quite frequent...... I hate to think I need to toss it!! Any/all suggestions appreciated.

Re: Sound but no picture - intermittant

I have lost video as well. I am probably taking mine in to the shop. What is the source of video? Does it matter? What are the connections for those sources? Component? S-Video? Any pattern there... Wish I had more info for you.

Just bought a Yamaha RX-V371 surround sound receiver and the TV audio signal is cutting out. I am running a Samsung LED TV with a single HDMI cable (sound/picture). I tested a smaller tv with a short HDM...

Settings are not the source of intermittent problems.

"Signal loss" is indicated WHERE? So what's going on upstream at the source? ITS cables are a part of this.

My $.02... I never route any signal unnecessarily to or through a device that doesn't enhance or consume it. Hence, my BEST video from each of my several video sources goes directly to my TV/monitor and my BEST digital audio from all sources goes directly to my AVR.

No problems.

Hi, I have a 304 NAD amplifier which occasionally distorts on one of the tweeters. I have taken it for repair several times but no one succeeded in fixing it. I have not replaced it because I am so...

Is it on all audio sources or only certain ones? Have you swapped the speakers Left-to-Right to isolate the speaker from the signal chain as a cause?

If it's only an analog source doing it I would suspect a bad audio cable or a switch somewhere in the signal path. Typically, it might be a switch you rarely use, like a Tape Monitor. It's wise to occasionally (with power OFF) operate all manual controls throughput their ranges a number of times to wipe oxides from their contacts.

Loose hdmi monitor out connection brand new cable

hd EZ lock may help your issue. It's a Universal Locking HDMI Cable Adapter which acts as a strain relief and HDMI Cable lock. It is very effective in eliminating intermittent signal loss caused by a loose connector, as well as eliminating harmful stress on an HDMI Input caused by a heavy HDMI Cable.

It's universal and works with most HDMI Cables and most HDMI Components, and typically installs in minutes. Here's a short video showing installation:

Picture sound blackout (blink) when cable box/receiver HDMI used

Onkyo service told me, the second timethat I called them, that there is a known HDMI handshake issue with Motorola and Atlanta Scientific cable boxes. The only solution, and it was a solution, is to connect the box through the HDMI 1 port ONLY. All the other (2,3,4) result in blinking/dropping of signal. I did this, changed the cable/satelilte setting to HDMI 1 and all is well.

Intermittant disruption of Picture and Sound on View TV/HDMI only

If i am not mistaken you can select the HDMI signal going out on the 663, this means you should select to have only pictures to go out as sound will have to be reproduced by the 663.
So HDMI output setup on the 663 should indicate image only, no sound.

Trouble with Tuner 2

From experience, I suspect that the dish has lost it's optimum "focus" on the satellites, and your signal has dropped. In your case, tuner #2 just happens to need a little more signal than tuner #1 - and that's revealing the root problem.

If you can have a second person handy, use the signal meter function and view the signal. Then one person should move the dish a bit (likely upward a hair). If the signal goes up with just the slight movement of the still tight dish, that's the problem.

If so, it's time to align the dish.

Picture goes blank

Consider re-initializing the machine (Pg. 55 in the manual). The only drawback to this approach is that you'll lose all preset settings.
