Question about Samsung VP-D93 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
An attempt to load a tape fails with a ....D error.
The manual states that this is a mechanical fault - and suggests that the recorder is switched off, the power removed and replaced - however this has not worked.
When the tape is inserted, there is a sound of a motor whirring quite fast before the tape is ejected instead of the 'tape cage' descending into the camcorder.
I suspect that the 'drive' to the spindles has failed - but I am reluctant to take the camcorder apart to check.
Can you advise?

MiniDV cameras have two video heads on the rotating drum, which read and write the picture in broad horizontal bands. When one head is not working, normally because it is clogged by dust/dirt/tape residue, you see broad bands of noise across the image occupying exactly half the total image area.......

Condensation problem is a common on newer camcorders. It is the sensor on the board that detects the condition of humidy. If you have not wet the camera or stored it in the humid area, the sensor or components around sensor is faulty. You can try to dry any humidity using hair dryer at medium setting in about 6 inches away for less than 5 minutes toward inside of tape loading area (make sure loading mech is at opened position). If this does not work, take it to recommended local camcorder repair facility for a diagnostics. Good Luck. CRJ
