Is there any other way? Reinstalling the printer will remove all other connections with my network, etc that were set up by someone else--I do not know how to reset that up. Why am I unable to delete the document from the printer?

To delet the document from printer cue:

unplug printer usb and power cable,
restart computer,
open printer cue with printer still unplugged,
purge the document,
then connect back the printer.

Removing your printer from your device list shouldn't mess with your network. If it does, you can always go into your internet options to "view available networks" so that you can get them all reconnected. Shouldn't be too difficult. Hope this helps and have a great day!

Uninstalling just the printer drivers/software will not effect network settings. Once you have uninstalled/deleted the printer. Please reinstall the printer. If you need the drivers please let me know and I can give you the link. I am assuming you have windows xp this is how you would manually try and get the document out of your print queue.
Method #1:

  1. Go to Start>> Run. Type in: services.msc [Enter] or click OK
  2. At the Services console, scroll down the list of services until you find the "Print Spooler" service.
Note: A quick way to navigate through the Services is to click once in the right pane of the Services console and type the first letter of the Service you are trying to locate. In this case it would be "P". Windows will automatically scroll down alphabetically until it reaches the first Service that starts with "P".
  1. Once you have located "Print Spooler", right click it and select "Stop".
  2. Wait a few moments, then right click "Print Spooler" once again and select "Start".
  3. Close the Services console and Administrative Tools.
Method #2:
  1. Go to Start>> Run. Type in: net stop spooler [Enter] or click OK.
  2. Go back to Start>> Run. Type in: net start spooler [Enter] or click OK.
In either method, when you return to the printers queue, any jammed print jobs should be cleared or you should have the ability to cancel the jobs now.

Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thank you,
Lee

Hello Jcchat,

That have happend to me too:

What i did to solve it was:

Unplug your printer for 1 minute and plug it back (that should reset it and the document in quee)
Then try to print again, but MAKE SURE the USB cable from the computer to your printer is connected properly.

Ps. Do you have your driver insatled?

Good luck, and if your problem persist, let me know

Jcchat, That happend when your printer "freezes" or gets "stuck". The only way to remove that is by unplugging it for 1-5 minutes (and if possible also restarting computer).

That usually happends when you send a document to be printed and try to cancel it when the printer was never conected. Then the printer driver gets confused as it has to cancel something that was never recived and it will "freeze" at "canceling document..."

Hi,
delete the printer from your computer, right click on it and select delete, also uninstall all the software related to the printer and unplug it, then install the original software and plugin the printer when asked,
good as new.

the document is more likely stuck on your computer instead.

  • Ekse Nov 23, 2008

    try restarting the service

Now clear the documents from the printer, if they don't clear stop the service and see if you can remove them then.

There are 2 simple methods to resolve any print job stuck in queue issue. However, both the methods will not fix printing issue if the HP Printer is in Error mode. Make sure your printer is able to print self test page to prove its functionality,

First method.

This Utility program resolve all the printing issue for HP Printers Only ( Network and USB connection )

This Utility will Resolve :

1. Check Connectivity between the Pc/laptop and HP Printer
2. Check if there any Documents stuck in Queue
3. Check if all the software/Drivers are correctly Installed
4. Check if the HP Printer icon is the default icon to print
5. Will Resolve Printer Spooler Issue and few more issue

Download the file on Desktop and Run the program ( Ex. File name = HPPDU.EXE )

Click Here to download the Utility and save on Desktop location
Run the HPPDU file and follow the instruction on screen to fix.

If this does not fix, try the 2nd Method given below ( this is manual process to clear the print job stuck in queue )

This works for all brands of printers ( HP, Canon, Epson, Brother etc )

Click Start > Programs > Accessories > then select Command prompt, then the black window will open and there type NET STOP SPOOLER and hit enter that will confirm service is stopped , after that on the black window type NET START SPOOLER and hit enter. Repeat this step 3-4 times and end the command with NET START SPOOLER and hit enter. Open the Printers folder and Refresh the Window ( Press F5 on the keyboard )

The service will be started and all print queue should already be remove.

// Above given solutions help in resolving print queue issue, however check the printer functionality if it is working fine ( the printer should be in working condition and should be able to print self test page, this utility cannot fix printer hardware issue //

I have a pdf document to print and it doesn't print it, and in the window box for the printer it says that 1 document is in queue (which I don't understand what queue means) and if I try to cancel the...

How large (how many pages) is the PDF document?
Try printing only the first page.
Then try only 5 pages at a time.

The queue is the disk area where the document (in print-out form) is held until the printer can service it (print it). This is known as "background printing".

When you open the printer control panel, is there a queue of documents waiting to be printed? If so, delete/cancel all documents, check to make sure it is set to use printer offline (in the file menu), and then try printing a test page.
