According to Toshiba's website, the Dynabook Satellite J11 uses the Intel 852GM chipset. Therefore, I would suggest you go to Intel's website (at this link). Then, choose your Operating System. That will lead you to the page with software and drivers for your laptop's chipset -- including the network interface card (NIC).

I hope this helps. If it does, please rate the solution offered. My goal is always FixYa or Helpful, never TFT or IA. Regards,
Char1ieJ

You may download all the Drivers and pre-installed Software for the Notebook from the Toshiba Support webpage.
Support website link:
http://dynabook.com/assistpc/index_j.htm
Visit the above website and enter the Notebook Model # in the Search tab.
Then, you will be directed to the Driver and Software download webpage.
Select the Driver and download.
The instructions to download and install the Drivers and Software will also available on the same page.

My Netgear WG111v2 adapter seems to have given up. Tried re-installing software but the PC does not seem to recognize the existence of the hardware. Any ideas or do you think it's Donald D'd

Sounds like, may be the first time you install the software driver you might have selected the option "Donot prompt me to install the software Again"
Open Device manager and find is there is any exclamation mark next to the Wireless adapter, if so uninstall the driver and search for new hardware, it should work.
Good Luck.

I have a linksys wireless adapter WUSB54GC on a Toshiba satellite laptop, I have downloaded the driver for it, try updating the XP driver to the location it is, but the computer does not update the driver....

Unplug the USB Linksys. Open device driver and uninstall the Linksys network device. Go to add/remove programs and remove the Linksys utility. Reboot. Now run the .exe you downloaded from Linksys. Then, and only then, plug in the USB.

Usually Toshiba WEB site would have the driver, you normally go to their download page, enter your laptop model and device etc.
Failing that there are a couple of WEB site that have a large collection of drivers, you need to know the exact make and model of your device. TRY
