Spring unattached on Brother LS-1217 near bobbin

Had a sewing party last night with 6 forth grade girls. :) Somehow one of my machines got "injured". The bobbin case was all loose and made a lot of noise. I noticed a spring is unattached and just hanging by one end. I don't know where the other end should be reattached and there is no diagram or reference to the spring in the manual.

Hello- did you manage to get this fixed in the end? I have the exact same problem with my Brother XL5012 and can't see where to reattach the spring?

How to tighten a loose bobbin case on an Elna 21C sewing machine?

The only thing to really tighten on a bobbin case is the tension screw. (Unless, what is really loose is the mechanism--hook, shuttle--that the bobbin case fits into.) It will probably be worthwhile to just bite the bullet and buy a new bobbin case for the machine. They aren't that expensive and it certainly will relieve a lot of potential future frustration.

I have a hyundai 8 stitch sewign machine been working brillant but last night it kept missing the tread and the thread breaking or jabbing . today looking at it i see when it jabs the Bobbin Case Inner...

The top thread breaks

1. the needle thread is not threaded properly

2. The needle thread tension is to tight

3. The needle is bent or blunt

4. The needle is incorrectly inserted

5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew

6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing

7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

8. Try a different spool or cone of thread

Bobbin thread breaks

1. There is a right way & wrong way to insert the bobbin in the case --when you insert the bobbin in if it doesn't stitch correctly turn the bobbin over see if that helps or bobbin case is not inserted correctly

2. Lint has collected in the bobbin holder

3. The bobbin is damaged & doesn't turn smoothly

4. Lower thread tension is two tight

if the sewing machine has a top loading bobbin, you may have to have the sewing machine checked to see if there is something wrong with the bobbin case or the hook and hook race.
I suggest try a new needle--one for the fabric being sewed
also try another bobbin
rethread the sewing machine top and bobbin, using every thread guide.

I bought a #7442 last Christmas and have not had a chance to use it until now. BRAND NEW, w/Carry Box and all. Anyway, my husband and I have spent ALL DAY trying to get it to work! We watched the DVD 5...

Not sure what brand of machine you have but generally after threading the bobbin the thread should be pulled out through a spring like device and by pulling on this thread and holding the bobbin case loosely in your hand, the bobbin case should turn clockwise inside the case. Clockwise is essential.
Then turn the machine by slowly by hand and let the needle go down and up once. Then pull up the end of the needle thread which should then lift the bobbin thread with it. Pull both through the back of the presser foot and start to sew. I hope.

Viking 1: where is the bobbin control, my bobbin is loose...

The bobbin spool is loose, the bobbin case is loose or the bobbin stitches are loose??????

If it is the last one - thread the machine with the presser foot up and see if this resolves the issue.

Bernina 180 Bobbin Case Housing Loose

The housing you are pointing out is the rotary hook asm. This is suppose to have a little clearance there, the clearance allows for the lower thread to come up. In order to make the machine run smoother in that area, is to put a drop of the benina only oil

I think a bobbin dropped in the bobbin winder and now the whole machine makes a grinding noise. I tried removing the large screws but can not get the whole machine open to get it out. how do i open the...

You didn't say what type or model number sewing machine you have. Sewing machine can only hold one bobbin within its case. Try tipping your machine back and forth to listen for a loose bobbin or loose object. If, you google your make and model you should be able to find a manual for your machine. Or open each movable part on your machine and tip the machine back and forth until the object fall out. Or use a strong magnetic to retrieve the loose object if you cannot reach it with your hands. Good-luck!

Why is my screen showing the 'bobbin threading' icon??

Perhaps the bobbin winding mechanism is stuck. Probably needs service.

Also, check the bobbin and bobbin case. Perhaps there is some thread stuck or it is not securely threaded through the tensioner.

I'm trying to do shirring?

My machines has a shirring foot, so I don;t have the same machine. However, I do not think that elastic thread will work in the bobbin. Have you tried it the other way around? Do you have your manual?

Bobbin thread is loose and looping

Okay it is the tension scrow on the bobbin. There is a small screw on the bobbin and by tightening it it gives you more tension on the bobbin.

Kenmore 385 series

The bobbin case is most likely not adjusted properly. The bobbin case has a small piece of metal that can be loosened with a screwdriver. Once it is loose you need to move it to a point that won't allow the case to move. The bobbin case must only be moved to a point to stop the bobbin case from movement. If it is too tight it will cause the machine from sewing.
