The E-99 error will come up if you try to play a CD to quickly after turning it on or loading. You will need to disconnect the power (red and yellow wires) from the harness (back of CD player) and leave it disconnected for sixty seconds. If that does not correct the problem then you will need to get the laser inside your unit re-aligned
There could be a loose connection somewhere. Does the sound stops on a regular time interval or only on certain conditions? Would there be a chance that there's water leakage at the area where the CD changer is stored?
switch unit off. (off button)
push and hold DSPL button for two seconds
the hour didgit should now flash
set the hour by useing the + and - select
when you have correct hour then push the SEL button then do the same for the minuites.
