Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

2 Answers

Product: Lady Kenmore, Ultra Fabric Care, Heavy Duty 90 Series Washer. Problem: Clothing/Water agitator is almost dead in the water (it barely agitates/moves). Clothes don't get as clean as before. The other cycles seem to work fine--it drains and spins fairly well.

I appreciate the advice, but I was hoping to remedy the non-agitating agitator problem myself. That is, order the part and fix it. How would I go about it?

    Greetings!

Thanks, but I'm aware that a pro should/could look at my washing machine, but I wanted to save a few bucks by tackling it myself. Last year, I managed to order, and replace the on/off selector switch by myself (yep, I unplugged it first). So, I guess that makes me fairly lucky in the self-service department/catagory. Any other suggestions you or your fellow gurus could offer would be appreciated!

    Thanks Again!

Either a belt or a gear is worn down and needs to be replaced. I can't find the part though. You will probably have to contact sears or wherever you got it, or kenmore and see what they can give you. It won't be easy to replace this part by yourself though so you will ultamately need a repair person. Sorry. I hope this helps.

Based on what I found, I think it is a belt not a gear. I will continue to look.

If you post the model number, I can find the part and tell you how much it is to replace.

Here is where to check for the model number:

    • Rear Center Of Lid Well
    • Left Upper Back On Base Cabinet
    • Back Top Control Panel
    • Right Rear Corner Of Washer Top Lid
    • Open Lower Left Front Base

Most likely the spline teeth have worn on the "clothes mover" or "Agitator mover". I would recommend having a professional service the washer. If you have any other questions or need further assistance on anything including finding service please let me know. If you have a moment please accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thank you,
lee

If it used to work and now does not, either the valve that controls the water inlet to the hot is bad or the temp sensor in the machine is bad. What is the whole model number?

if it is like the other you have to remove the top cover of the agitator cap with a small flat head screwdriver, then using a 7/16" socket and ratchet with an extension remove the bolt(right hand thread) and pull up the agitator.

good luck to you.
