Hi, try pressing the ESC or Del key during bootup and select start in safe mode, from here you can reset your operating system to a another time. Or insert your operating CD and perform a system recovery from there. Hope this helps
At the Acer splash screen, you can press Alt and F10 (at the same time you would press F2 to enter the BIOS) to bring up a DOS style version of eRecovery.
·The unit is able to reload Windows from this mode faster then from CD. ·The password by default is 000000 (6 zeros) and it is displayed when you are asked for the password. ·Users are able to change the password in this mode for eRecovery only. ·The system can recover from the hidden image on the hard drive (PQService partition) or from CD/DVD media. ·It is possible to reload from the factory style CDs/DVD or the snapshots that the Windows version of eRecovery creates. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe
Your issue is with the Acer Empower System, the application is not installed properly or is not installed at all. You can actually visit the http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acer/bin/acer.html#app=2766&9e7c-selectedIndex=0&3386-selectedIndex=2&bca4-selectedIndex=1&bf37-selectedIndex=1&4f90-selectedIndex=1 when you open the page by default it should show the Drivers tab. Under the tab there items you can choose from: Select Product Type, Select Product and Select Download. You first need to click on the "Select a Product Type" choose there Notebook. Then it will goto the next item which is "Select Product" choose there the model of your laptop which is an Aspire 3100. Then it will automatically goto the "Select Download" and it will show all the possible drivers you can download including the Acer Empower System and they are labeled either for Windows XP or Windows Vista.
