Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error even something as small as a faulty electrical extension or fan lead can cause this problem

computers need all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly

a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer ram make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets

hope this helps you

Had a mge350wps, burnt out, replaced with dx-400wps, turns on but receive messages as follows. NTLDR IS MISSING PRI MASTER DRIVE (NONE) DISKETTE DISK A(NONE) DISKETTE DISK B (NONE)

As long as everything is plugged in you may have had a surge from the old power supply that damaged the drives. I have seen this happen. I hope it didnt happen to you but it may have. Do you have power to the CD/DVD drive. When you start the computer does a light come on on the front of the drive? Push the eject button on the drive and see if the drawer comes out. This wont eliminate the possibility of a damaged but it might help diagnose if your getting power to the drive. You should also listen to see if your hard drive spins up. If you disconnected the drive cables from the mainboard or from the drives make sure they are back on the correct direction. You should also try the system with just the Hard drive plugged into the mainboard. Since I have had a single bad drive make the system not boot correctly eliminating all but the main drive will help you see if it is a bad drive making everything not work. Dont forget to go into the BIOS and set all drives for Auto.
Hope this helps... Dale

I cant reformat my Toshiba libretto L3. I tried everything

You cant boot from cd. Try changing the boot order in the BIOS and allow the CD to have ownership over the Harddisk Drive. This way the computer is forced to boot from the CD.

Powers on and turns off 10 - 20 seconds ?????

Check the power supply first, unplup the cd dcd components and try your pc this way,
Check the cpu fan also as this sounds as if the cpu is reaching critical heat ranga and is shutting down the system to protect it self

Debian install failed

You might try running one of the live cd distributions to see if the machine hardware is supported that way. You do need a minimum of 128 MB of ram, might be 192 for a live system. It could just be that the system doesn't have enough ram to run Debian, that would explain why it wouldn't finish installation, and why it fails to load now. Check the readme and release notes for minimum system requirements. Maybe you would do better with a leaner distro like DSL?

Based on your post/description, you may want to try:
1.Restore to last good settings.This is done by pressing F8 before Windows Starts. You will be presented with a menu of several option. Press arrow down till you highlight Last Known Good Configuration that worked, select that and Enter. Hopefully, your desktop PC will revert to the settings that worked prior to when your problem started;
2. Should # 1 don't work out and you would really want to "...wipe everything out...:, pls back up all your important files. likewise, you need to log down all your devices from your Device Manager or save/copy/back-up your installer/driver files. Thereafter, you need to borrow an installer CD of your Operating System. Pop the Cd installer and boot from the CD drive. When the installer asks you, delete the partition and allow it to format to your NTFS, reinstall and follow on screen instructions.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
