Re: microwave oven

It may be a door switch, or a failure in the high voltage electronics. Microwave ovens are so cheap these days that they are generally not worth repairing. Do not attempt repair yourself, as there are LETHAL voltages present, even when off & unplugged.

GE Spacemaker XL - fan stopped working, light will come on and timer will count down.

either the magnatron fried , or the fuse fried... either way the microwve has to be taken down and opened up.
If you have the serial number , GE will send you a replacement magnatron (but will not service the unit for you).
contact GE and they will take care of you... the magnatrons are warranted for like 10 years....

Mbbs 01 thermador micro oven: timer counts down, lights go on, but no heat, no fan and turntable does not turn. is it a fuse?

Key clue is table does not move---All microwaves with a table have a lever switch that is engaged when door closes--only can get at from inside the unit----it prevents the unit from operation if door not closed.

What happens from closing door a lot is the switch with a lever arm can come loose or even if snapped into a plastic holder break out of the holder.

IF this it is not too expensive a repair.

We have a Frigidaire FMV156DCC that is about 3+ years old. as of last night when the door is closed and the time is selected one of 3 things happen (or doesnt happen) 1. is nothing, just a dark...

I would replace the door switches and set up the door gap to 1/8" just enough to alow for a little play.
Setting the door square is acheived by slackening the lower door hinge and re tightening it when the door is square.
Hope that helps.

JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.

You need to trace the power feeding the high voltage transfomer. Because the table doesn't turn, it implies that a door switch or safety interlock is the problem.

Oven not coming on but timer and lights working

The door switches are almost certainly the culprit - probably the upper one. It may also be a loose mount, or even a loose spring in the hook-like devices on the door which activate the switches. There is a center monitor switch whose purpose is to blow open the fuse if the door is open and the upper or lower switch gets activated. That's why the fuse blew when the screwdriver was introduced - you activated the door switch while the monitor switch was on. I've attached a generic picture which gives you the idea. More importantly, at my Web site, I have critical safety information, disassembly tips, and infomration on checking and replacing door switches. You can find these via my link at FixYa here:
