Well, the problem I am having is I am not able to boot from either the USB or the mem stick reader from the laptop. The laptop does not have an optical drive so the only option for me is to take the hard drive out fromt the inside and try to format it thru external enclosure.

    Each boot states:

    NTDLR is missing.

any idea how can i reinstall Windows?

    Thanks Slick54,

Hi, own a Sony Vaio VGN P530H with hardisk Toshiba MK6028GAL damaged. as forced to replace unit, wonder could install a higher capacity? Brand & model if available please!!! thanks to all of you!!!

The VAIO VGN-T350 is a notebook computer designed and distributed by Sony.
The hard drive on your Sony VAIO VGN-T350, which is the unit that stores data, consists of many clusters of data that can be rewritten with new data.
If you are looking for a memory capacity upgrade, or if your old hard drive is having errors, it's time for an upgrade.
Upgrading the hard drive on your Sony VAIO will require the use of a screwdriver and will take you about 30 minutes to complete.

Turn off your Sony VAIO VGN-T350 and remove the power cord and any other peripheral components.
Turn over your Sony VAIO VGN-T350 and locate the hard drive chamber on the bottom of your laptop. It will be clearly labeled.

Use the screwdriver to remove the screw holding the lid in place.
Gently lift the hard drive and its cage away from your laptop and disconnect the data cord.
Remove the four screws located at the corners, and then remove your old hard drive from its cage.
Place your new internal laptop hard drive into the cage and replace the screws.
Connect the data cord to your new hard drive and place your new hard drive into its chamber.
Close the lid and replace the screw to complete the operation.

Ebay this hard drive should fit there are smaller capacity drives that will be compatible.

Blank display

Could be hard drive crash , could be graphics chip failure , could be power supply failure............................

too vague description :

1. does screen show ANYTHING during boot attempt ?
2. can you hear hard drive or heatsink fan spin on boot ?
3. do you get keyboard LED's to light up on boot ?

If NO on 1,2,3, then power supply is toast . get new one........
If No , Yes , Yes , then graphics chip dead . Try external VGA->VGA output to other monitor , see if that works.
If Yes , Yes , Yes , but not booting then hard drive is toast , try replacing it and re-install windows .

Operating system not found

Most likely your hard drive has failed. You can check in BIOS to confirm (If it doesn't show up in BIOS it is toast) You will need to... Comment if you need further help.

It says cannot start the correct hard disk was not found. does this meen that my hard disk is toast

I have seen a few ps3's with bad hard drives which can be replaced with any SATA 2.5" hard drive. But sometimes though, all you need to do is remove the hard drive and reseat it a couple times. Sometimes the contacts can become dirty and loose connection. I would try this first before going and buying a new one. I usually get mine off of ebay, but they can be purchased at any electronics store.

Hard drive

Sounds like your hard drive is toast but £145 for sony to replace it sounds expensive, you should just be able to replace it with any 2.5" internal sata drive
here is an example of one
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/9663375/Toshiba-MK5055GSX-500GB-2-5-Internal-SATA-Hard-Drive/Product.html?source=5066&engine=froogle_pc&keyword=Toshiba+MK5055GSX+500GB+2.5%22+Internal+SATA+Hard+Drive+(Sony+Playstation+PS3+Compatible)

That one is about £80 but im sure you can find cheaper, the best news is that replacing the drive doen't void your warranty which is good, here is a link to really good guide for replacing your ps3 hard drive

good luck, let me know how you get on

WHATS UP WITH MY LAPTOP 3623

Hi,

This issue normally means that your hard drive is bad. What the computer is trying to tell you is that it attempted to locate Windows, but it can no longer be found. The Hard drive is normally the case for this message. If you want to be sure its the hard drive I would suggest downloading http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html and boot from this CD try and access the hard drive with this cd, if you cant the Hard Drive is toast. If you can the OS became corrupt and could still mean the Hard Drive is close to being toast. Either way throw the toast in the trash and buy a new Hard drive. http://www.newegg.com/

Have a great week,
ArmyMason
