I have one that is about 2 years old, but not exactly sure since I can't find the receipt - so I'm not sure if I'm covered under warranty or not.

I have the same problem in that the unit is not grinding wastes. It has power, because I can hear the motor humming - I pushed the reset button anyway, but it doesn't do anything. So the motor is humming, but the blades are not turning under power, yet they turn freely when turned by hand or using the emergency wrench (yes, with the power turned off :-).

I checked their website, and it gives no help whatsoever, other than to call their service center - which I 'm sure that despite whatever they have written there, will end up costing me $.

If anyone has any suggestions, please pass them along. Thanks.

If the InsinkErator is least than 2 years old, you should call the service.
there is 2 year In-Home Parts and Labor Warranty by InSinkErator.
if not you have to disaemble the unit and see what is keeping the blade from turning.

let me know if that is what you need.

It will work but it sounds like metal is grinding in it.

Use vacuum cleaner to see if something is loose.
Otherwise, a noisy disposal that works is functional and not dangerous... but annoying.
Life of disposal is probably shortened since the bearing seal could have failed letting water in, and bearings could be rusted.
Replace disposal if noise bother you.

In Sink Erator leaks half way down

1) Copy following link for troubleshoot and replacement tips.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-repair-and-install-Garbage-disposal.html

2) Insinkerator usually has 5 year warranty.
If unit is leaking, then replace with new disposal.
Waste King disposals have longer warranty, but local hardware sells Insinkerator/Badger for less.

The blades on my Sinkmaster 550 garbage disposer needs replacing. How do I take it apart and replace the blades?

that is a project I wouldn't reccomend. besides the "blades" are not really changable. The blades are a piece of metal cut at an angle and when they spin they grind the food by rubbing against a series of holes in the base.
if the disposal is not grinding the food, then its time to replace the disposal.

Theres a reset button on the side of the thing.  Also check the breaker box to see if the switch got flipped.

Stopped up garbage disposal. no grinding action when turned on

Hello there:
you will need to make sure that all of the hoses from the unit are free of debris first ok
than if you need to remove the blade assembly and clean out the area around the unit and than reassemble the blades and see what happnes ok if not you will need to remove the entire unit and see what is making the unit malfunction. ok
best regards michael
