Install the software first, then connect the printer. Once all drivers are installed go to start, settings, printers. Find the printer, right mouse click on it and choose "set as default printer", that's it.

Let me know how it works out for you.

I purchased this router from someone and they told me it wasn't used. Turns out it was and now I don't know the log in information to set it up to my computer. Can this be reset without having to...

There is a reset button on the back. Press and hold that button (will require the end of a paper clip to get to it) for 20 seconds until the unit resets. The settings will be restored to the original factory defaults. The IP address will be and the password will be admin (no user name).

How to reset the default network settings

Do you know the current settings? If so, log into it and set it up. There should be a setting within the web page to restore to factory defaults. I don't know if this is something that can be done without logging into it.

What setting to receive fax

You don't have to manually set the printer to receive faxes. Your printer will automatically receive a fax when it recognizes a fax tone/signal/transmission. Just as long as the fax settings are correctly configured and the printer is connected to a working phone/fax line.

I am unable to receive faxes, although I am able to send them. How do I correct this?

More then likley you just have not set the printer to receive faxes. If you have the User's Guide the information is contained under the fax chapter.

If you do not have the manual, please let me know.

How to set machine to receive incoming fax?

Quoted from the manual: The HP all-in-one will not automatically answer calls. You must receive all faxes manually by pressing Start Fax Black or Start Fax Color. For information on receiving faxes manually, see Receive a fax manually. You might use this setting if the majority of calls on this phone line are voice calls and you rarely receive faxes.

Fax default

This is no doubt a windows setting. It's not unusual for the default printer to be the last one installed. If you are using Windows XP, select Control Panel then Printers and Faxes. In the Printers and Faxes window you should see the installed printers on your system. Right click on the printer icon you want and in the drop-down-menu just left click on Set as Default Printer. That should set the selected printer as the default printer for your computer.

Not receiving faxes

Check settings auto-answer on....rings to answer set at 1 or 2...make sure receive faxes to memory is not turned on...what you could do is restore all settings to factory defaults. This can be found in the menus. If none of this works...replace the fax modem.
