Question about Dell Ethernet Card Network Adapter

1 Answer

Dell Ethernet Network Adapter not being recognised

Hi all, I tried the solution to ping to see if the Ethernet Card was there, and it worked!

However Control Panel Device Manager indicates a problem with the driver - no driver files have been loaded.

Where can I find the driver files?

Thanks!

I) Click on Start button ---->Select option Control Panel------>Select Network Connections----->
a new window appears showing the "internet connections icon " Such as:

Local Area Connection 1 or 2 or 3 and since you are not connected it will show this icon as:

eg1:  Local Area Connection 1 or 2 or 3
        Network Cable Unplugged, Firewalled
        VIA compatible Fast Ethernet

in this case u can download VIA network drivers....from internet..

                      or

       eg2: Local Area Connection 1 or 2 or 3
       Network Cable Unplugged, Firewalled
Realtek RTL8139 Family Fast Ethernet NIC

in this u can download "Realtek RTL8139" network drivers.... from internet(which is showing              model no: RTL8139 through google search engine )

                                         (OR)

ii)        Click Start button ---->Select RUN option ----> type in the text box devmgmt.msc --->Select                Network Adapters....

but this will show wheter ur network adapter or NIC is VIA or Realtek or......but does show the             correct Model NO: of VIA or Realtek....

so i would suggest to follow the step (i)

Thanking you

My dell 8300 keeps losing connection with the internet, the connection is good the ethernet light is red

1. Disable your windows firewall immediately or allow the firewall to permit the ping.
2. 127.0.0.1 is loopback address to ensure your network card is working fine.
3. Change the network cable with serviceable one.
4. Un-install the driver and reinstall with new one from OEM site

Ethernet light at the back of the computer does not light up, also does not recognise cable.

Check the dell website for support and drivers for your computer. go to www.dell.com and put your service tag into the proper section.

You either have the wrong driver for your network card or the network card is not functioning. You need to be sure the card is seated properly in the card slot first.
Chedk the device manager to see if the network card is recongnized. Go to your My Computer icon, right click and go to properties and then the hardware tab.
Look under network cards and see if you card is visible and if the driver is loaded for this card. If the card is there, try to download an updated driver for your network card.

I hope that you find this information helpful, if so, please leave feedback for me.

Thank You,

Brian .

Have a dell dimension 8300 and the ethernet card is not working. any way to fix or purchase a new card. Also getting c.exe hs stop working?

c.exe is an infection ,u have to use any antivirus software to remove this and u said that the ethernet card is not working, check the lights on the card when you connect the ethernet cable , check the same light when you are in the bios, check it in the bios, if it is detected in the bios, try pinging 127.0.0.1 in the safe mode with networking. if its able to ping then the issue is not with the card. if the pinging fails in the above step then reseat the ethernet card.
