Question about Hoover U5753-900 WindTunnel Bagless Upright Vacuum

Hoover very noisy after new belt installed.

Hoover mod # V5753-960 is very noisy after new belt installed. Belt is generic but supposedly is right for this model. Generic bought at Walmart)
No noice when run without belt and roller in place.
Anyone have trouble with generic belts?

    I am having this same problem and I am using genuine parts. I spent a significant amount of time cleaning and maintaining the roller and am still having this issue. I have noticed that if I apply pressure to the top of the vacuum while it is operating I do not have this issue. Once operated in this manner for more then 15 minutes my brand new belt breaks. Any thoughts?

What is the belt # you have installed (generic)? Yes, there are problems with using generic belts on Hoover Vacuums. If you have noise I would suspect the roller, and replace it. the cost is about $25 and is something that you can install. The newer type are mande of wood and are very quiet.

Hi i have a hoover F5853 when the brushes in contact with the carpet they quit spinning but it is on and lift the front up they start spinning but as soon and i put it back down they quit please help


Belt around brush roller is worn, it spins freely when there is no pressure on it. But put it on the floor, the belt won't turn the brushes. I suggest taking unit to vac repair shop for new belt installation

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Knowing the brand name and model number for the vacuum but I can give you a generic way of changing the belt. You 1st need to remove the bottom plate by screws, levers or clips, then you can get @ the belt, if not then you should remove the top cover and then you can get @ the belt. 1st remove the belt from the brushroll and install the new belt on the pulley side of the brushroll and then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a bend on the end and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt in a straight line so that is running in a straight line. Replace the bottom plate and the belt change should be done. Please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Your problem is that you may need to change the belt every 4 to 6 months as a recommended belt change on the vacuum and also keep an eye on the brushes or brush strips, they also help in the vacuum working properly. Here is a typical belt change on a Hoover. Normally there are screws, clips or levers that would remove the bottom plate or if that does not work then the top cover will come off and that will expose the belt. Once that is off and the belt is exposed then cut off the old belt and then lift up the brushroll on the pulley end and install the new belt around the pulley end and re-install the brushroll. Then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a bent right or left end to stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt in a straight line and reverse you steps in the reinstall of the top cover or bottom plate. I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Remove the bottom plate by removing the screws, clips or levers and then if you cannot get @ the belt from the bottom then the top cover should come of and then you can get @ the belt. Cut the old belt off and then lift up the side of the brushroll with the belt pulley, then slide the new belt onto the belt pulley and re-install the brushroll, then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a left or right hand hook and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt so that it is running in a straight line. Now, replace the bottom plate.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Usually there are screws, clips or levers on the bottom of the vacuum and you need to either remove the bottom plate and once you have taken the screws, etc. out the top cover will come off. And then you can proceed with the removal and the install of the new belt. 1st you need to remove @ least one end of the Hoover brushroll and take of the old belt and slide on a new belt. Once the belt is on the pulley side of the brushroll; then re-install the brushroll. Make sure that the brush is spinning freely B4 you install the new belt, then take a belt puller or a screwdriver with a left or right hand hook to use as a belt puller and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley, then take and roll the belt until it is tracking straight and then re-install the top cover and or the bottom plate, tighten down the screws, levers or clips. I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. the Hoover Elite belt change can be done from the bottom under the bottom plate by removing clips or screws and the bottom plate should come off and then you can get @ the belt. 1st, lift the brushroll out from the pulley end on the side – remove the belt and slide on the new belt and re-install the new belt on the pulley side. Then use a belt puller or a screwdriver that may or may not have a hook or bend on the end and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and the track the belt in a straight line, then /2 that time replace the bottom plate. If you cannot get @ the belt from the bottom, then the top cover will come off and use the steps above.

I bought a Hoover Wind Tunnel in January 2008. At first it worked great though very noisy. Now it will not pick up small fuzz on medium shag carpeting. I have checked the bag, the filter, the belt, and obstructions and there are none. Plus the noise level has increased. What is wrong?

Sorry you are having a problem, using the Hoover Windtunnel is a very good vacuum. Reading youre description, the belt is one of the main reasons you are not picking up the small fuzz on a medium shag carpeting. The belt change on the average , if you have one or 2 belts should be changed every 4 to 6 months as a rule, and the brushes need to be in good shape as well, if those two are working well you may have a bad seal on the motor or a broken fan blade(s) and that would decrease suction and you would need to replace the fan. Also check the gaskets if they are broken or damaged or pinched and letting air through the suction will leak out. These are some of the items to check for, so feel free to contact your local vac dealer.
