GE Stove XL44 JGBP35WEV4WW

My oven/broiler does not work...I turn it on to bake and the temp does not go up from 100 degrees. I think the proglem is the igniter but I don't know where it is located. Please help.

Thank you.

Visually inspect the element for any kind of rupture on the shield covering the element. If it looks good the next step is the wire connections at the back of the element. Most likely is has a burnt wire. You will have to pull the back cover off to check this.

CHECK THE IGNITOR, IT SHOULD BE GLOWING ORANGE BEFORE GAS IGNITES. IF NO GLOW, REPLACE IGNITOR.

SOURCE: ge xl44 oven not igniting but burners ignite

The most common failure for a nobake on this type of oven is the bake ignitor. turn unit on and look at the bottom of the oven, you should after about 30-45 seconds see an ORANGE glow, if you do not, chances are you have a failed ignitor.Remove lower part of oven and if you have a meter, place one lead on each terminal and check for continuity( a closed circuit)
If you have an "open" circuit, the ignitor is bad

SOURCE: GE Profile Stove baking option not working

Possibly the bake igniter, the temperature sensor or the electronic oven clock/control. Does broil mode heat properly or does it run cool also? If broil heats to the proper temperature then the temperature sensor is probably ok. That leaves the ignitor or the controller which takes some more troubleshooting. If it is the controller, we repair them at www.fixyourboard.com.

either its the oven sensor rod located at the top of the ovens cavity,or your bake element could be getting a hot spot which is when it gets a discolored spot in the element and can no longer pass sufficient current to heat the oven past 250 degrees

i wouldn't say it is "normal", but yes, the bake element in the bottom could have burned out again. it depends too on how often you use the oven. if you use it every day, chances are it will burn out quicker than say someone who only uses it once a week. you can check the element for a burn hole or a blister break. you can also check it for continuity with an ohm meter if you have one. hope this helps.

The bake ignitor has failed.Turn off the gas supply. Remove the racks. Then remove the bottom pan cover in the oven to access the ignitor. Place a amp meter on one wire of the ignitor.Turn the BAKE switch on. If it reads less than 3 amps, replace the ignitor.

Hi, It very well could be the ignitor. Sometimes they work at first and then will not open the gas valve later in cycle. You can set the oven to heat and watch the ignitor. If it glows and the gas will not ignite in 30 to 45 seconds, the igniter is getting weak. I jope this helps.
Please let me know if I can assit you further.

Oven not working

hey, turn the oven on and see if you see an orange glow at the bottom. this would be your glow coil. exactly like the broil. if you do, take an amp probe and check the amp draw to it. it should be over 2.9 amps. if no glow or low amps replace and start baking. enjoy
