Question about Zanussi ZWF1430W Front Load Washer

1 Answer

240v 50Hz Zanussi zwf14581w wont start code EH1 with 220v 60Hz

We emigrated from UK to Mexico, taking our 2 favourite appliances, Boche diswasher and Zanussi washing machine, neither work here. We have dual voltage, 110v and 220v in the flat BUT i guess the frequency ,60Hz, is a problem for the motor so neither our diswasher nor our washing machine work. Is there anything we can do or have we made a very expensive mistake? The machines here in Mexico are several years behind the UK which is why we did it. If it meant spending a few hundred to resolve we would do it. Thanks in advance for any advice, be as technical as you like. The code above is to get this form to work we have zwf14581w not zwf1430w but i expect they are similar.

EH1 is a fault code that relates specifically to the frequency of the electrical supply. The power board is designed for 50Hz and will notice if it does n't get what its looking for.
You may be able to purchase a new main PCB that works with a 60Hz supply. You would need to contact Electrolux to ascertain whether this would be possible.

Can an appliance with a nema 6-20p plug be used in the uk?

It will probably require an adapter. If the equipment you're trying to power is dependent upon 60Hz power, it may not work correctly on the 50Hz power found in the UK... especially if it has an electric motor.

What is voltage of Ace touch dimmer

    Hi Roger -

I just answered a related question of yours here. I see in this question that you are located in the UK. Household electrical devices in the US and Canada are 120V / 240V - 60Hz types. Larger appliances such as stoves, clothes dryers, electric heating and air conditioning equipment run on 240V - 60Hz. Small kitchen appliances like toaster, dishwashers, microwave ovens and common home appliances like radios, lamps, TVs, small space heaters, etc. all are 120V - 60Hz.

If the UK 230V devices operate on 50Hz (as I suspect they are), this can cause problems for many electronics, motor operated and devices that have transformers designed for 60Hz systems. Standard toggle switches wouldn't be a problem (provided you slect types rated greater than 230 V), but electronic types - like dimmers - could suffer from overheating issues.

Whatever you choose should be rated for the same (or greater) value of voltage, wattage or amperage and the identical frequency in hertz.

To your question: No, it is not likely that the Ace touch dimmer sold in the U.S. is rated for 240 volts - unless it is specifically identified for use at a voltage equal to or higher than what you want to use it on.

I hope this helps & good luck!
