I read you have to remove cover and dry out "sump", I simply followed other advice of tipping it at 45degrees (get that mop ready) and hey presto. There may be a problem with a leaky component but so far so good.

That has to do with the drain itself. It can come up when the unit is draining slowly, it has nothing to do with water-level really. I would suggest makign sure that your drain hose is not crimped / crushed / or obstructed first before going onto other problems.
E24 is linked to a drain error. You need to get the water out of the bottom and remove the filter by unscrewing it and it will raise up. Get all the water out of the bottom and you will see 3 grooves in the bottom sump area. Make sure nothing is blocking these. On the left side in the bottom you will see a cover and 1 screw.Remove this screw and lift the cover up and make sure nothing is blocking the pump and see if you can turn it by hand . If all of this looks ok the next thing to check is where the unit drains out under the sink. Take the drain line loose and see if anything is clogged where it drains into to the plumbing. Hope this helps and please remember to click accept
Check the drain pump it is located in the front of you unit .Disconnect power or flip breaker .Remove the front kick plate then there is a metal plate above that is held on with 4 screws remove that and reach in and press lever on pump and turn counter clockwise it will come right out .Then check for items in the pump area could be glass. Hope it is helpfull
I think it is a drain clog error. The water is not draining fast enough from the machine.
Check your drain line for kinks under sink and/or remove drain line from sink or disposer and check for clogs.
If this does not work repost question with specific make and model.

empty dishwasher clean drain in bottom, close door, check that drain pipe not kinked, tip forward to 45 degree, check pipe again when putting back down, you may have to tip it forward a couple of time if it does not work the first time
